What's this off of?

What Alfa did these 40DCOE2's come off of?

GiuliaGuy bought a carb, I'll be selling my pair, I also have a weird looking (but just to me), intake manifold. The outside's of it all are tarnished. However the important thing is the fact the carbs are very clean inside. I was surprised. There is evaporated fuel residue
which needs cleaning out, but with a new gasket kit and cleaning they are ready to go. The floats and needle seats look very nice. Needles 175, bypass 70, 55F8 idles, 35 pump jets, 79 degree plates with good looking screws in the plates, no bashed screw heads, chokes 29, auxilary venturi's 4.5. They need main jets, emulsion tubes, air correctors, and holders. But I have spares depending on what's needed. The idle jets and holders were in the carbs after all. The idle fuel outlet ports aren't overtightened and cracked.

I guess with the dollar so weak, I'll get out my tooth brush,aluminum\brass cleaner, clean these up, get a gasket set and throw them out on ebay. I have another set of 40dcoe's I'm keeping for a future project.

Can any of you tell me if this is a (750) 50's or is it an early 60's alfa manifold? Carb serial numbers are 1807 and 1731.

What's this from?

I'm guessing Giulietta Sprint Veloce since the chokes are 29 (and that is a prettier name than my Alfa Duetto Spider).

These are carbs and manifold for a 101 series Sprint or Spider Veloce. The rarer 750 series Veloces used a manifold with a separate water rail (not cast in) and 40DCO3 carbs.

Twin cam
Great choice of name!
WELCOME to the AlfaBB!

Wesley - I agree; though they could have come from any '60's 1300 engine.

this won't be much help, but the only Alfa that came with 55F8 idle jets was the 1600 GTA 45 DCOEs, none came with 175 needles and 70 Accel pump bypass sounds right for a 1600 Veloce, a 1300 Veloce should have 50 Bypass and 150 needle valve and 50 f11 idle jets, but I could be wrong. 1300 Veloce 40 DCOE 2 specs

Venturi 29
Aux Venturi 4.5
Main Jet 110
Air Corrector 200
Emulsion tube F-16

idle Jet 50F11
Starting Jet 60 F5
Needle Valve 150
Accel. pump jet 35
Accel. Pump Bypass 50

The manifold appears to be an early one, late 750 or early 101 1300 "transitional" car because the water jacket tube (rail) is tapered and it looks like there is no screw-in thermostat. the early 750's had the 2 piece manifold/water tube (rail). The later 101's had a non-tapered water tube (rail) (top of manifold) and screw-in brass thermostat where the top radiator hose connects. I have 2 in front of me now.

The carbs could be from many cars. . .1300 Sprint & Spider Veloce, SS, SZ 1600 Veloce and some 1750 and 2000 used the DCOE 2 Carbs. I am referencing several books as I type, specifically Shankle and Glenn. The jets etc. have most likely been changed, very easy for someone to change them at anytime in the last 40+years. The jets etc. do not exactly match any specs for a specific series. You just can't tell what's been done in there and it doesn't really matter anyway, they would need to be set up for whatever engine they went on.

Hope this helps.

There's a listing of DCOE variants and the models to which they were fitted in this thread.
