65 Guilia Spider on E-bay

Does anyone know anything about this car? it seems in decent shape, but the poor chrome makes me wonder about its life - it seems to have been exposed to the elements .

Decent shape? You gotta be kidding me. Don't worry about the chrome -- worry about the rocker panels. The picture showing rust next to the radius rod indicates that the rust is probably structural. I wouldn't be surprised if the car flexes like a banana -- in my opinion, a project for the not-so-faint-of-heart.

I looked at that one yesterday and the underbody rust is what turned me off too. IMHO, the car is probably well worth restoring, but you'd better be a good sheet metal fabricator/ welder going in. Otherwise, you're looking at big bucks.

This car is certainly worth restoring, but I agree that the rust has reached a point where it has to be addressed. My '56 only showed pinholes in the outer rockers, but when removed, the inner stiffening pieces were essentionally dust! I think I paid $1500 for the sheet metal from Wolf Steel, but a LOT more than that to make the repairs. Just make sure you know what you are getting in to!

IMO, a whole lot of work will have to go into this one. I'd balk at paying much more than the current bid. Unless you do much of the work yourself or have time and deep pockets walk away.

I wrote up a whole descriptive post but it disappeared when i clicked the post button!
The long and the short of it is this is a $5000 structure, $3000 panel and parts, $3000 and up for Paint--- PROJECT! If you love shoveling against the tide restoration work- this is for you! In the end you could buy the equivalent for $12-15K.
If you want a nice vintage Alfa - GO WEST!

Thanks for all the help

Much appreciated review of the car. i don't want to get into a major resto job, but as it is a local car for me, i thought i would take a look. Now when i look at the pictures, I see what you mean about the rust!
