Blue Giulietta Jack?

The jack for my 750 came to me coated in this nasty easter-egg blue. The previous owner had clearly made a visit to the Wal-Mart $1 bargin bid.

After taking a closer look at it, I could see that there was also blue paint underneath. This blue was closer to what I have seen called Medium blue, which Giuliettas came from the factory in.

I knew what carb cleaner does to cheap rattle-can paint, so this evening I used some of that to strip the bright blue paint. I took about 5 minutes since I was being careful.

After getting the outer layer off, I could see what I think it a third layer of paint. This blue is pretty close to Celeste blue, which was the original color of my car (a 750).

Anybody seen another blue jack, or know anything about what the original color should be?

Yes the blue jack is correct for some 750's though I'm not sure which ones. Parker Hall @ Kilimanjaro Design sells older Ferrari and Alfa restoration parts and decals. Some older Ferrari's used this same jack. Parker may be able to pin down the year further, and possibly the exact color. I have seen photo's of these blue jacks in his catalogs.

Alright everybody, I am in need of some pictures or information about the threaded rubber bump stop that goes on these early jacks. If things work out, it could lead to some reproductions being made!

My jack's black. Measurements of my bump stop within maybe +/-.5 mm. I'm not positive about the thread size. It only measured 4.5 diameter with my plastic caliper but seemed to match my 5x.8 mm die best. It's a fairly soft rubber, which doesn't explain the dent in my fender above the jack point. Looks like the threaded part is brass.

Thanks! This is very good info. Now we know what to look for.

Anybody out there have a crusty old one of these that they can volunteer for mold making purposes? Another thing that would be needed is one so bad that we can cut the rubber off of to see how the brass shank works inside the button.

Thanks for the drawing and the great information. I didn't realize it was so small! No wonder you have a dent where it hits the car....

I have turned a mock up on the lathe and will be making a mold soon. I'll keep you posted.

Here is a wooden mock up and my first two molded buttons with brass threaded ends. I'll be trying them on a jack this next week, hopefully.
