Matt raises a really good point about making the car drivable first, then deciding if you'd like to go all out restoring it. I owned two 1750 105 Giulias for quite a few years, and though I enjoyed driving them, never felt the urge to embark on a restoration on either car - it turned out I didn't like them so much as to justify the expenditure in time and money. I invested (and will invest) my money instead in a 63 Spider and a 59 Sprint, both of which I think will end up in my son's hands

Good luck with your project.

Drive as is or full restoration.

The Sprint was almost stripped some 35 years ago. I have only a few hours of work to complete the stripping. Under the bench seat at back is very rusted from rats toilet. So that whole section has to be replaced. The body work will be completed by end October. Then the task of fitting the Sprint out to drive and source some parts will begin. I am worried that if the body is not completed ASAP then the damage could get worse. Hardly any rust on rest of body. We live in high dry climate which helped.
You have a point about getting the scruffy Sprint running. But I feel that the cost of full body restoration will be best served by then completing rest of Sprint with good restoration.

Rev counter for 1959 Sprint

The only major item missing that I can see is the REV Counter.
If you know of one for sale I would love to purchase it.

Giulietta gauges are on ebay all the time at reasonable prices.

Can any one supply me with a few pictures of the cubby hole door and attachments for Sprint 1959. Is there a light inside. The roof of cubbyholes is also missing. Maybe a pic of the inside of the cubby hole.

Hi Dennis

No light, no top to the cubby hole, basically looks like half a shoe box under the dash.

There should be more cubby hole lids than cars by now, check with Julian Shaw in Pretoria, if you don't come right, I've got a spare somewhere, but it's had a large hole cut in it to fit a radio speaker, so needs work !!

Basic lid has 2 small attachment screws & a rotating catch They were essentially the same from late '55 to '65, of course given Bertone Build spec, it's doubtful they are even remotely the same size & shape from one car to the next.

Ciao

Hi Greig,
Thanks for info. Should you find the cubby hole lid I would be pleased to take it off your hands. Please let me know price.
Kind regards,
Den
