Fergat Wheel Leakage

I have 2 Fergat wheels which allow slow tire pressure leakage. Not dramatic but slow with a air top up every week or so. Any recommended repair or restoration steps? I do no think they are bent and only minor surface rust in a few spots on the inside surface.

Thanks!
Russ

Hello Russ;
My 2 cents and what I have done. In the 70s I used to seal the inside rim with silicone glues... I do not recamend this now as its far to heavy. But you could do it.
If these indeed for a 750-101 car & ?s is listed in such. You should be using tubes any ways, as the rims do not have the safty bump in
inside for tubless radials.
In some place's you can not use this rim with out a tube. This is the best cure.
And for the life of me I have one more Idea. But I just lost it.. No worries the crew here have just what your looking for I am sure.
Take care
Peter

I have heard, as well, that they were not meant to run tubeless. I have a set that hold air ok, but I am planning to put tubes in them.

Tubes & wheel rim leaks with Fergat wheels

None of the Giulietta / Giulia wheels were designed for tubeless use. Fergat's were, I understand, a more brittle wheel than the Boranni's. Cracking has been reported in the spider section of some Fergats where the Boranni was more likely to bend. Of the wheel rim itself, it seems any leaks would be at the welds to the spider. If there is cracking there on your two slow leakers, they will either need some welding repair or replacement BEFORE you go to tubes.
Just my opinion.

Hi Crew. Another 2cents.
All do respect Gordon.. I think its not worth repairing these.. with modern tiers its just not a good wheel.. Your advice is wize and sooo correct to have them welded and checked..
Back in the CN 36 days I broke out 3 hubs on Fergats in one day of track time .. These where good Calif. no rust wheels.
In the 80s and 90s I used 008 race tires with Boranni rims and still no issues on my 750 and Super
If one was to repair them I would go to a good wheel house and have them compleatly redone... Buy the way Ford ranger pick ups have the correct size outer rim you can weld on your hub for a 5 1/2 in wheel.
Photo shows the wheel on my 101 SV in 90-91.
I did not know some Forgots on 750-101 cars could be used with out tubes.
I checked mine. ( Not in use) and there is no safty bead inside the rim for use with out tubes.
Out here In Calif.. Its against the law to mount a tire on a rim with out a safty bead unless you use a tube... But heck almost everything is against the Law out here unless it gives more $$$ to the State.
Its easy to check . Look at the inside of the rims. There should be a little bump on both sides where the tire will seat.
