Jack Storage in a Spider

Could some nice person give me an idea or picture of just how the jack is stowed in a spider ? The book does not show it stowed.
Thanks,
pat

I don't know if this is correct and I don't have a tool kit but this is how I have it mounted. It doesn't rattle or bang about. I have seen them mounted the other way around. Anyone have a complete tool kit they want to sell or trade?

Pat
In theory ... the jack gets stowed next to the $$$ Tool Kit $$$; fastened securely with the leather straps.

In reality ... it stows more easily beneath the spare tire as pictured.

Next step is to consider mounting the tire on the wheel to put the valve on the inside ...
Are you breathing your exhaust fumes?
Did you think you'll weld in the old hole for the valve stem and just drill a new one on the inside of the rim?
What happens when the valve stem contacts the brake caliper or drum?

I'll look into installing a remote line to the valve stem on the upside-down spare.

Pat --as you say, for beverages.

We do a wine tour each September and I found that we buy the bottles of wine faster than we can drink them--which of course is the point.

As it is now, I stuff a couple of ponchos inder the spare in its Normale installation. These are handy should it rain and you can't stop to put the roof up.

We do live in a temperate rain forest--and, yes at 70 mph the rain doesn't come in.

But then you come to the small towns.

GTD,
You kindly supplied a photograph of the behind-seat compartment in which there is a black bar running beneath the spare tyre. I don't have this member on any of my cars...is this a later roof frame format?

Cross Bar

Stuart
Yes, the picture is from a 63 Giulietta and as such is a post-transition 101 chassis. It can also be noted that this era of soft-top frame displays the "assist handles" on either side - just another feature to complicated raising and lowering.

I'll join in with --the bar as part of the roof mechanism is in mine as well.

Also, through direct experience in the rain forest--the Giulietta tops are better than the Giulias.

On mine--at 80 mph only a few beads of water will come through above the wind screen--but only on the passenger's side. The Giulia tops seem to allow water in from the sides as well.

Also, from direct experience in the rain forest. When parked overnight, make sure it is parked facing up-slope. When parked facing downhill, water rolls in from the rear deck and gathers in the floor wells.

Don't take the drain plugs out as they are too difficult to force back in. The new absorbant "chamois-type" cloths are very good at soaking up water.
