For those who may reference this thread in the future:
"Could you describe the exact location for the side spacers?"
Understand that all measurements are approximate and are made with the vinyl covering installed on the bodywork flange (thickness: 5mm).
Measuring vertically from the lower side of the flange in the bodywork; center of oval hole is: 14~15 mm
Measuring horizontally at the lower side of the flange in the bodywork, from the rear edge of the wheel well; center of oval hole is: 10.5 cm
"What is the length and width of the holes; inner and outer?"
The oval hole measures: 25mm X 40mm

Rear side bumper fastener hole location.
What is that object we can see through the oval hole?
From previous posts it seems there is a tube coming out from the frame side. But on my car there is no such tube. Nor is there any visible marks on the frame indicating there ever was one. On my car there was just one rubber spacer on each side of the sheetmetal. Or is it just a caged nut?
Measurements like this should go into a database of information here on the forum. It's helpful not only to us viewing it now, but in the future it will become even more valuable to others with cars that have been modified from their original state. It's very commendable that GTD put in a search phrase and show photos to make the measurements unambigous.

Time for the respray!
Hi all,
I thought I'd share some pictures with you of the respray I'm having done.
The chaps I've chosen are Heaton Park Coachworks in Newcastle. They seem to have a good reputation and know what they're talking about. They're the Lotus approved garage in the North East, so I trust them with a sporty little number!
I've included some before pictures (26.2.08) and some a week later (5.3.08). I'll keep them coming.

Progress after week one
More pictures of the respray. Once it's all the way back then I can cut the holes for the rear aluminium bumper spacer and drill the holes for the turn-buckles for the hood and tonneau.

If I didn't know better, I'd think those pics were from Southern California!
So much BOG it seems as if Boyd Codding - ham was your bodyman.

Hello all. Need help.
Bodywork on my Giulia Spider is now (finnaly!) virtually finished but as it was a deep rebuild, the supports or inner brackets for the spacer and bolts are missing. The guy doing the job most probably just cut them away.
Does anyone have a photo, drawing or any useful information on the size, shape and location of these supports on the frame?
From what I have seen above probably the only to source the spacer and rubber grommet is Alfa Stop, correct?
Will be pleased to post photos of my restoration project if anyone wants to see.
many thanks for any help on this.

Many thanks, very helpful, I have saved all the pictures!
What I needed was information on the supports for the bumper side spacers and I think this is what you show on pictures 4,5 and 6.
Now, any idea of the location of these supports on each side of the body?
Also do you know were I can buy the spacers? If not, do you have the dimensions of these spacers so that I can have them made?
Many thanks and best regards
Antonio

AlfaStop has the spacers and gaskets in their regular stock:
AlfaStop - passionate about Giuliettas
Coachwork: Scroll about halfway down.
Here are pics of the DESTRA/Right and SINISTRA/Left bumper end brackets from the underside of a 101 Spider. Dimensions will be of little use here as these brackets are not bent at a 90 degree (right) angle.

Bot the side brackets, they did not exist on mine. But to complete the picture, here is how the right rear bumper bracket is mounted to frame, seen from above and inside. Not easy to photograph when your boot floor is in the way.
What you cannot see here is that the tube going out through the panel is going inside the tube on the bracket you see. Then tack welded to it. So it seems they put on the bumper, adjusted the distance to the panel and tacked the tubes. So if you're restoring, grind off these welds and give yourself an easy time installing the bumper with a perfect fit.
I'll try to add a close up picture of this.

Pretty in pink
Hi all,
It's been a while, but we're finally getting there with the respray.
The most time-consuming part has been removing the 13 layers of paint!
All the holes for bumpers have now been drilled. I've also picked up a full rear-bumper set from Alfastop. Not cheap, but was definately needed.
Anyway, here are the photos of the primer layer. It should be fully sprayed next week!

And "Thank You!"
Beautiful job. Great documentation from the best players here on the BB . All these photo's and measurements become more important with time. It brings me joy to see these cars saved.
