"One of these days I will sit down with as much production numbers as I can get my hands on with production dates coupled with colors and see if there are batch color runs from PF"
Chris
This is likely to cause maximum frustration! Ruedi is right about the cars not being sequential. Gauging by Italian manufacturing and accounting practices of the 50's and 60's ... it's surprising they used chassis numbers at all!
Pininfarina was little different than ALFA Romeo - for all the chassis numbers PF assigned a production number to - no records remain.
I sometimes think its simply Italian humour; overheard in the AR accounting office, circa 1958: "Wait until someone 50 years from now tries to figure this out!"

I know about the sequence of numbers not being built. Most likely what interiors are we getting today, so that is the color of cars we will put together. It doesn't matter if they made 20 in one day or 1 an hour...just tossing numbers around. I do know for a fact that the engines were built, stockpiled and pulled in what ever order they grabbed. That accounts for the disparity as per Sr. Fusi. I sometimes think its simply Italian humour; overheard in the AR accounting office, circa 1958: "Wait until someone 50 years from now tries to figure this out!" Most likely your correct.

Peter,
Comparing your chassis number to the register (first post of this thread), it'd seem to be a 1960 Giulietta. Does the water pump assembly on the front cover of the engine come right up to the bottom of the head? if so, it's a 1300; if not, it could be any of the other larger displacement blocks, depending on the gap between water pump and bottom of head, if I understand it correctly.

When and where is the No Frills, Stuart? The name sounds familiar.

Stuart
I'll look into the "No Frills" for next year.
Does the title imply that I can't bring Lois?
Pat
My Spider is a 1962--Graphite Grey with the Red interior.
Serial # AR370011 the engine number was AR00112*13065
I'll post the number of the 2 L on the next opportunity.

Patrick, maybe I missed it, but are you going to compile the Register and post it somewhere?

Andrew, if I'm understanding you correctly, the "register" is actually the first post of this thread! Amateurish, I know ;-)

Patrick,
On seeing Andrew's comment I had another look for myself. There is a typographical up-**** with my entry. Chassis number is 802 not 803. Have you made a decision on the No Frills?

Sorry Stuart! I'll have your entry corrected - looks like my fingers are getting too fat for the keyboard.
I won't be making the No Frills - no car! I had hopes of having it done by May so as to run another Giulietta Jaunt; it now seems impossible. The engine is only half-done, and there's all the adjustments to do before it'll run! Will be polishing the steering wheel and getting it installed this weekend.
