Oil or Gas?

've got about 1000 miles on my rebuilt, Weber-carbureated 1600 Veloce
engine. I've got plenty of power, no apparent smoking out the tail
pipe.

I do notice, however, when I start the car, a fine black mist almost
particulate matter, sprays out the exhaust pipe. I say this becuse
I've seen it on the garage floor and back wall afterwards.

I've checked the plugs (Bosch R3 platinum) which are blackened, but
not greasy or oily. I'd assumed this was carbon, the result of overly
rich jetting, a long time problem with the Webers.


Any thoughts?

It's probably exhaust mixed with latent condensation. I think it's quite common.
