Funnily enough there were four black Giulietta spiders on the 07 Mille and three on the Patrick Hung event. All with scarlet interiors too.
Can I go back to a topic on painting engines. I have done this for years and I have a colour which is exactly the same as cleaned aluminium. It serves to seal the "grain" of the metal and allows you to wipe the surface down without having to resort to Gunk or any other preparations.

Who makes the paint? Eastwood makes a paint called Alumiblast (sp?). I have used it on small Aluminum parts and it look very good and seems to wear well too.

I use Rover "steel metallic" paint which does not appear metallic at all when it is on a slightly rough surface. It has a slightly blue tinge to soft grey, it is not a hard German metallic colour. It appears to withstand the temperatures that the engine generates and even after a few years still looks good.
I took a very clean aluminium water pump casting to my local parts shop and matched the hue to a readily available aerosol can. Bought one, thought this is OK, and sometimes I have difficulty in seeing if I have actually painted the part.
I am sure that there are similar colours available to you.
The other good thing is that you can re-touch so that scratches etc can be eliminated.

Thought that rather than describe the colour and finish I should send an image. Here is the engine in the car head painted in Rover steel metallic.

Hi Stuart, nice engine. Are you installing an airbox over the Webers, or resorting to airhorns?

Patrick,
Air box next bit of work to do. But, as I have shoe-horned in a 1600 engine I may be tight for space. In which case I will use a foam covered filter.

Centerline has a cast aluminium cold- air box that looks like the original Giulietta, but in being a little trimmer is designed to accomodate the 2 L install.

With the 1600, you will prolly have enough room to hang the cannister on the firewall.

i would never have the patience or the time to go through a full restoration like this.

how much would a car like this go for?

40k? 50k?

thanks.
