Seem like a very reasonable solution. Use the linings designed for the car from the time
the car was built! New and improved is not necessarily better!

Having seen this car at AROO events and the Forest Grove Concours, words fail me. It is one jawdropping moment after another. And I believe that George's quote from Bill Eastman that "the judges could find no fault with it" is a humble way of saying it received a 100 point score.

Thank you Roger. Don't know if you saw Keith Martin's presentation of my award.
Cheers,

George, what little chrome strip was he mentioning that is seldom ever seen? Is that the one that covers the ends of the strip covering the body seam behind the rear bumper?

Yes, big deal ha? He could have pointed out like Bill Eastman told me I had the wrong nuts on the oil filter housing (corrected now) or a few other little "nit picking" items that weren't correct (also corrected), but what the hell. I'll take the comp.
None of the judges noticed any faults. But then again, they are just judges.

Tool Kit
I just completed the last item for my tool kit. I was missing the drain plug Allen wrench combo and the hammer. I ended up making the Allen wrench and purchased the hammer from "The Hammer Source", The Hammer Source - Hundreds of hammers! . It's a 200 gram French Pattern Blacksmith hammer #P1601-0200. I had to shorten the handle a little to 8-1/4 overall.
Wrenches and pliers are original NOS. The tool wallet I had made new from an old original as a pattern (Bill Gillham provided the original and got 2 of the repros). Screwdriver is from Garrett Wade, Garrett Wade Woodworking Tools & Supplies, Shop Tools, Hand Tools, Measuring Tools, Knives & Drills... . A complete set is #13G07.01 use what you need for the kit and use the rest in your tool chest. Nice quality! I also have a new Lodge spark plug that goes in the snapped cover.
Cheers,
George

Thanks Don, I now have over 800 miles since finishing (finishing?) the restoration. But the rains are coming and will limit my winter driving.
Cheers,
George

Beautiful work. Thanks for the comment about the seat upholstery. Just had mine done on a '90 spider and went into the shop thinking leather. The owner asked if I planned to run with the top down much and when I answered yes, he said you're going to be happier with a good quality vinyl. Said that the leather would require treating frequently and unless I was different from most, the intervals would get longer and longer with deterioration beginning soon after. Would have sold me either but I ended up with a great vinyl job.

Bob, I have had other requests to make the tool, but first I don't have the time and second I don't want to go into the tool making business. At my shop rate the cost to make the tool would be cost prohibitive. I previously described the basic construction process and provided a drawing. That's the best I can do.
Cheers.
