Sprinting About

Giulietta/Giulia Sprint Owners,

This thread was originally intended to be a questions/answers forum for Sprint owners; it's however evolved into more of a Sprint registry of sorts that includes cars/owners globally, which is just as well. Please note that all Sprint owners are welcomed to submit their car's information by posting it here in this thread, or by sending it to me in an e-mail (pathung@gmail.com). If you would like to keep your real name confidential, please do not include it in your post (the BB handle suffices), and if you choose to e-mail me, advise me of your preferences. By the way, Sprint Zagatos (as well as its variations) are also welcomed, as I know a lucky few of you have one lurking around in the back of the garage.

Below is a list of information for each owner's car. Please provide me with the following information:

Car Year
Car Model (Normale/Veloce/Confortevole/Allegerita/Tall/Grande/Venti/Extra Hot (if you're confused, DON'T let me know))
Chassis Number (stamped on the firewall in the engine compartment, passenger side LHD)
Build Date (month and year of manufacture - this info. can be obtained by e-mailing: ArchivioStorico@alfaromeo.com, to the attention of Mr. Marco Fazio (Mr. Magro retired)
Engine Number (stamped somewhere on the block)
Original Color (official Alfa code/name, please)
Photo Post (we're all suckers for a good photo - let me know if you need help posting photos)

LASTLY, if you find this thread useful, please kindly donate to the AlfaBB by scrolling to the top of this Web Page, and clicking on the "Site Donations" link in the green menu bar. Thanks in advance on behalf of all BB members.

Patrick-
Great idea. You can add my 1962 Giulietta Normale, mid-resto, originally white going to Acqua di Fonte (light blue-gray). Its currently down to bare metal, engine overhaul complete. staying as original as possible. I was hoping to have some photos up by now, but coming soon. Will update w/ chassis number too. #AR 350028, built Jan 62, sold new in Germany Jul 62. Engine #AR 00102 30158 (correct engine but missing firewall plates to confirm it's original).

Thanks for the interest, everyone. I'll insert all your cars' information in the first post.

Here's a photo of my car's rear end. Missing one reflector.

Archivo

Hey everyone,
If you have the factory build dates/sale dates from the Archivo Storico can you add them the your posts? Especially on the 750/101 transition cars, someone can start the process of confirming and/or correcting some of the published dates.

Patrick,

First, thanks for doing this. Great idea!

Info I got back from Archivio:
According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 1493.05931 (1493 is the identification for Giulietta Sprint) originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, manufactured on the 29th November 1957 and sold on the 4th July 1958 to Hoffman Motor Cars Co., New York, U.S.A.

It is titled as a 1959, but I'll see if I can get the state of Wisconsin to change that to 1958 when the time comes.

They had no info on what the original color was. According to paint on the un-repainted parts of the dash, it was a medium blue. If I can find the paint formula for the original paint, it will stay that color. When I get it out of storage I'll post the engine and body numbers.

Sopp
