Gordon, I've added Tom's Sprint Veloce to the register. 1493.09917. Will you be posting the photos here?

Revived
Slow but sure progress on the Sprint. Rebuilt all the hydraulics except the front calipers as they are not leaking and not rusted. Boiled out the fuel tank, replaced all the fuel hoses. Blew out the carbs, which were pretty clean anyway. New inline filter, battery, adjusted the clutch, oil and filter change, new water pump and radiator hoses, backflushed the radiator, replaced the coolant, new ignition wires. New set of tires and sandblasted and painted the rims. And, after 28 years, its alive..... Took a quick drive up and down the street, but the neighbors can't be too happy about what is essentially an open exhaust. Amazingly it runs quite well for sitting such a long time. Next step, exhaust system replacement and DMV.
As I remembered the car from 1970, it had carpet covered boards in the rear area. Came back with Foam padded and upholstered boards. Pulled a bunch of staples, removed the foam and found the carpet intact underneath!! The only modification was the lift tabs at the rear had been cut off before they were recovered. As all original carpet will need replacement anyway, at least I have the originals for a pattern.
Life is good.
Still looking for an interior mirror. Also a source for the original style heater valve. I'm sure it must have been used on other period Italian cars. Anyone know?

Ian,
You progress looks great. Do you plan on running the paint etc as is? I would, it looks very tough.
OK parts sells a very nice repro mirror for 120 euros, I bet Alfastop has one too and the heater valve as well.

The paint will stay like that for a while... Dad had the stripe put on in 1970 or so (for safety reasons, makes the car more visible) .
Your Sprint Speciale project looks suspiciously like one I spotted on line for sale some time last year. I mentioned it on line somewhere (perhaps here) and someone emailed me for the link. Was that you?

1958 Sprint Veloce 1493.09917, owner Tom Trabue.
These pictures are of Tom Trabue's 1958 Sprint Veloce. Tom just found this car to add to his driving collection. It is living in my shop while it gets all fluids changed and everything mechanically checked out. Then he will take it back to Tennessee and his home. It's a good one. Updated with a split case 5 speed, and 1400 cc kit, but the 750 Veloce engine and engine room are as neat as the rest of the car. The interior is original. This is a very nice Alfa # 1493.09917. It is listed in Patrick's register. More pictures soon as the weather allows.

Giulia Sprint Veloce, not GT
Anyone fitted a Veloce application to a standard Giulia Sprint? I have the 105 manifold and it looks like it will foul the right side air cleaner bracket and the air cleaner if it is installed in the stock location.
Found the rear view mirror I was looking for, Thanks to Chuck Hart.

Veloces had special engine mounts to tilt the engine away from the right fender. Centerline has some fabricated mounts for the same purpose (EM503 for 1300/1600, ± $200). For all I know the various types of 105 Weber manifolds are not dimensionally different from 101 manifolds.
The challenge is to install air cleaners. Veloces used a fairly shallow plenum and an intricate arrangement of ducts to bring air from the firewall mounted cleaner which in turn sucked air through another duct from a special scoop in the grill close to the left headlamp.
The plenums are now available as repros, but don't ask about the price. I've seen Webers fitted on 101 Sprints with dome type sports air cleaners (Centerline AF299). Don't forget the brace to support the carbs.
Unless you want a lot of high rpm power, you can do just as well with a downdraft Weber such as a 36DCD. I'd bet it will give better mileage too.

Giulia Veloce Sprint
Thanks,
I guess I should have been more clear...
I already have the original Veloce 101 mounts tilted at the proper angle, oil pan, headers, 101 plenum and brace, original 1300 Veloce air filter housing with brackets. I don't, however, have a 101 intake manifold. The 105 manifold has a great hulking combination plug/bleeder/hose junction on the firewall end that sure looks like it will interfere with the original mounting of the 1300 air filter housing. I've been told the 1600 engine is slightly taller, and the 105 manifold looks bulkier. It's been so long since I've seen an original I don't recall the dimensions.
As I understand it, the 101 series Sprint was never offered in a 1600 Veloce version.
Maybe one or 2 of you Giulietta 101 Veloce Sprint types would be kind enough to shoot me a couple pics of the Air filter box mounting details and the clearance to the water jacket of the intake manifold. 750's different enough to likely not be helpful to me, but all pictures are welcome.
Anyone want to part with a 101 Veloce intake manifold?

Hi Ian
The 105 manifold fits under the 101 Veloce Plenum, no problem.
Although the lump on the end looks big, it's below the level of the cam cover bolts & the metal air filter canister is still 1/2" above the head & back against the firewall.
With the exception of the tapered top tube, the 101 & 105 manifolds are basically dimensionally identical.
There is a lot of room under a Sprint bonnet to make things fit, Spiders are more troublesome.
Ciao
