spider won't start

I have a 1965 Giulia Spider Normale that won't start. I drove it home from an event fine and then it would not start again. Turn the key and nothing. Before I start ripping into it, does anyone have some suggestions to shorten my search?

If by "nothing" you mean it won't even crank over, I'd start with the battery and cables.

And check that no wires have fallen off the ignition switch behind the dashboard.

If your engine was up to temp when you went to restart it, the starter housing has picked up engine heat and is not strong enough to overcome the additional friction within the unit. If you let it cool off for a few hours, it should start on the first try. The solution is to have the starter rebuilt or changed out. Rick

Welcome to the AlfaBB.
Clean your battery terminals, clean your fuses and try starting it. Report back here with your results.

Won't Start

I have a similar problem with an 84 Spyder. It won't even click. All other electricals seem to work and it starts if I pop the clutch.

I was wondering if there's a neutral safety or clutch pedal switch that went out, but I'll start on the wires to ignition/starter.

Thanks,

Tom

Spider won't start

Thanks for all of your advice. I found a poor cable connection that was the culprit. Spider Larry
