Yeah, thats a great movie - and much better than the remake featuring Bruce Willis.
Quote:
Willis can't rival the worldly flair of the original Jackal, Edward Fox, who intrigued simply by looking great in an ascot and an Alfa Romeo.

By the way; I watched "Malena" the other night - starring beautiful italian actress Monica Belucci. Set in Sicily during the war, it has some wonderful scenes and atmosphere. Much like "The talented Mr. Ripley". Oh, and I'm pretty sure I spotted an Alfa 2300.

Hi Jorgen. I have not seen Marlena. Most Fellini movies have Giuliettas in them; whether Spiders or Sprints (I'll pull up some titles).
My favourite movies with Alfas (more than a few second show) are as follows:

-The Graduate (To me it's a movie about a Duetto)
-CQ (Another Duetto ". . .he smasheetap his Alfa. . ")
-The Destroyers (Montie, GTV's, Sprints,a 2600)
-The Italian Job (I never even saw the Minis )
-Octapu$$y (I think that you have the video on your site)
-Excellent Cadavers (Apparently the only cars in Sisely are Alfas)
-Love Potion #9 (Adrian Paul says he owns Alfa Romeo in it)
-No way out (Costner flirts in a nice Quadrifoglio Spider)
-Pink Panther (a chace scene at the end with a Ferrari, an Alfa Manta, and a 1900 Ti, and a 500; they all crash into each other)
-The Man Who Loved Women (The original French Version, in which Marceaux drives a Ti Super to work and smacks it into a pole to meet a girl)
-Blue (A really nice Blue mettalic 164 crashes into a tree in the first minute of the movie )
-I'm too sexy for my car Video (Does he really think he's too sexy for that Duetto? Not in That outfit!)

There is also a nice show of Italian playboys in Alfas and Fiats in most "Beat at Cinecitta" movies from the sixties. (XXX)
Any more?

Regards,
Taso

Thumbs up post jackal

Man; what a great movie. Even better than I remembered.
That Giulietta had so much face time. I saw more of that car than I have of any other Alfa in a movie. A pretty one too.
Both my wife and I had forgoten what happens to the car though; how sad.

Pleasant Inconsistencies in the movie:

-It is supposed to take place in 1963 but is actually shot in 1973. The Spider is supposed to be brand new (He has the brochure on his desk). The car Must be a '61 Spider Veloce 1300 though,(it has webers and there is no 1600 on the boot)

-There is No battery in the front so don't try to shoot your Alfa blue in the forest that way

-There is a Duetto driving the other way at the French border.

-There is a silver 1750 GTV with yellow fogs parked behind the inspector in Nice.

We're obsessed and we know it

What a great movie. We had a blast watching it, and now we finally have it in our library.
Now if I can find a movie with a Giulietta Sprint that has that much screen time (they always pick the Sporty Convertibles)we'd be set

JOECAB- please let me have details on that movie and I'll get it.

Best Regards,

I just watched "Contempt" a Luc Godard movie from 1963. Jack Palance woos Bridgette Bardot in a Red 2600 Spider. Very nice.

Jack Palance would be able to woo me in a red 2600 Spider!

He plays a real a$$hole American producer in Italy, hiring a French writer (Bridgette's husband). It's an artsy sixties movie, but beatiful, and what a car!

The Jackal did much to reinforce my affection for Alfas. I would love to get an early Guilia Spyder, but they are quickly appreciating beyond reach.

Jorgen, I just saw "Malena", and followed it with "The Cicilian" that has a gorgeous 2300 parked in the courtyard of the rich ladie's estate.

Now lets see some ETCC action

Forza Alfa Romeo!!
