It looks like an ambitous rebuild. The clutch pressure plate is not worth salvaging, new should be redily available. I like to clean casting with chemicals before resorting to glass bead. Many times I have found paint stripper to be a good cleaner for aluminum.
I have always been told that any deep rust pits in a critical part will create a weak point on that part. Such points could fail.

Hello "Cstlhn"!

Thank you for your comment...

I forgot tell: I have the original engine 1315 .

This second 1315 engine is for pieces if necessary in restoration.

I think many pieces in this 2º engine 1315 ( for 750 series ) come rebuilt.

Thank you again for any comment.

I learn.

regards

Marco

We're watching. I am sorry I can not add technical help but I encourage you to keep up your work. Do not spend so much time on alfabb.

Yes Marco, we anticipate more on this rebuild.
It is a large job, but will be worth it! Engine 1315*30xxx is a veloce with a normale induction system (head?) fitted. Clean things up and see what you have...the parts may look better without rust. Be patient!
Look at pathung's thread if you need encouragement.
Cheers, Laurence

Marco,

I noticed you've been posting on the 'Sprinting about' thread and not here. Curious to see the progress on this project. Having myself just fallen in to a similar rebuild with an SS I understand what you are going through trying to figure out the combination of parts that makes the most sense for reaching your goal. That Veloce block if the bearing caps and front cover match in number, and if not too oxidized, is no doubt valuable to someone with a Sprint/Spider Veloce but no Veloce engine. The Veloce oil pan is also a very good part, and if it proves usable would be a nice touch on any Giulietta engine.

Let's see some update pictures!

Marco´s veloce engine

Guys,

I´m pretty much amazed over how enormously much is there to discuss on the subject of i. e. gas cup venting, almost two full pages by now, but hardly anything on Marko´s recently "out of grave" saved veloce engine and especially given the fact Marco has posted so many pics of it. I myself am not an expert on engines, but from the posts to judge there are many of us that are skilled in this area, but still, for some reason, suddenly anonymous. Why? Beats me.....In my opinion, this should and could be a great subject for an extensive and educative discussion.

Marco, I am sorry to come so late to this thread. I have seen worse engines so please don't be downhearted about it. Throw away all the wearing parts, including pistons and liners and have the remainder chemically cleaned. Check the head thickness and the block height to see if they are reusable and you have the beginnings of a usable Veloce engine. I am also not sure what facilities you have on Madeira but I would have thought that new seats, bearings and cams were not impossible by post, Chains are relatively every-day items. No real problems as long as the basic architecture is OK. Check twice and good luck! Any further Veloce engines please send to me!

Hey Marco,
MANY photos, and of excellent quality, on EBAY(USA) of a 1st series sprint, as you are returning yours to original- Maybe these photos will help and encourage you! Search for 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint in ebaymotors, cars for sale. Good photos of many details not normally seen in books. I'm not selling ebay or the car, but the photos are really good.

Keep the revs up,
Laurence
