Not sure but I think the car on the picture is just a version of the PF cabrio.

The Bertone proto cabrio is I think this ( as you say there isc one in Switzerland and this one in America)

Bertone Spider
Hi AV

No, the two Spiders built by Bertone also still exist, when Alfa decided to launch a Spider, both Bertone & Farina tendered prototypes, these still exist.

The two Bertone Spiders were at the 50th Aniversary celebrations, one is the gold / white one, the other is the red one.

The picture I posted is of a 750 Sprint, which has had the roof removed - this was done by Nuccio Bertone to make a drop-head coupe out of a '55 750B. This car was a one-off, never sanctioned by Alfa & remained as a one-off by Bertone. After completing the project, Bertone chose to make the 2 Spider prototypes rather than persuing the DHC route. Ultimately Farina got the Spider contract.

Matt - ummm.... no, maybe we need to look at "lifting the roof" on your SS

The picture you posted is more than interesting. Have you noticed that it appears to have the Farina Spyder windscreen posts and an SZ grille. Look at the rear and it does appear to be a Spider messed with! Or am I reading too much into this and being too cynical? See page 35 Evan Wilson's Giulietta book for one of the two. How different were the prototypes? I have only see the Wilson one.

I moved the Bertone / Farina Prototype Spider thread to here Bertone & Pininfarina Spider prototypes as we were starting to take over Marco's thread on his Sprint restoration.

Stuart - you can compare the 2 prototypes on the other thread.

Now we can focus back on the restoration of Marco's car
