PSB,

Cool glad you have the handling sorted

Just to clarify do you mean you have removed the panhard rod, OR modified the upper trailing arm triangle so that it no longer controls sideways movement of the axle?

Like you said it is amazing how somebodies mistake has hampered this car for so long ... lucky for you I guess

Pete

Exclamation Its Fixed

Hi PSk;
Thanks. and Yes it was good for me. Here the deal. I 1st took the panard rod off and drove her. Much better. But too much side play. so under again I went, I cut the trangle so it only locates in 1 place and put the panard rod back on.BUt also drilled a new hole to the panard bar body side mount, its now flat as the car sits loaded. because as you lean it changes and can move its location a little and it was mounted agian
Now, Weeeeeee I found it was doing what Alfas do, You can drift it around a turn and if a dear or? where in the road you feel as you can drift around in full control around it. As if a down hill off camber turn and the guy in front gets loose and your drifting .you still can shot to the inside and gas it by all the trouble in full controll!
I must tell what other crazy things have been wrong on the car. Back years ago I would work to gether with a wounderful chassie Guy on all my cars Named Bob Mello. he has done a lot of factory stuff for the Por.and FO-D and meny others. He even has notes for L. Chenetti (sp) back in the east coast. Any way I was thinking this car was a wreck It was dangerus. It have neg 1 1/2 deg of caster on 1 side and 1 deg. Neg on the other. and tow out that may look cool but was 3/4 tooo much. and 1 deg neg camber on pass side @ 0 on the other. Well these cars armes are located with bronz bushing and you can not realy shim it to much as it can bind. so I spent some time making some shims so I can kink out the top arm and kick back the lower arm ( 750/101 cars have double a arms) Now she is just awsome!!! as Al Leak said after driving it a Laguna saca , some body spent alot of time for a concours , But its the worst car he ever drove Quote if you call it driveng. It has gone from that to a real fine car all around. I wish you could feel it. I reallt want a Close ratio Gear box as it has so much tork and 512 rear Posi Yes 512 posi Gotta love it but 1st gear is wayyyyy to short.
Check out the other photos, whats your take on the wheels?
Thanks for the intrest

Yep like the wheels.

As for:

Quote:
I cut the trangle so it only locates in 1 place ...
I do not think I am familar enough with these cars and how the rear suspension locates to fully understand , but I believe it is very similar to later 105 series cars, but the triangular arm you mention is much lighter tubular construction instead of the heavy cast thing the 105 series have.

Thus I understand now that you have located the panhard rod correctly and kept it, and somehow have the triangular top link locating the top of the axle for fore and aft location. It sounds like you are saying that it only connects to the car on one side of the chassis now ?

This sounds a little strange to me but it appears to work so cool , happy for you

I know that with the GTA's they replace the triangular arm with a link that goes straight from the top centre of the diff to a bracket that is rigidly bolted to the chassis. This link has rose joints in each end and thus only does the fore and aft location.

Great that you are turning her back into a driver!

Pete

Since I'm planning a similar set up on my Sprint (eventually), what springs do you use for your car?

Eric
