It is the first TZ prototype, as described in the text of Minerbi's book. This car [with the hardtop] was the cover shot on an Auto Italiana... that issue is around here somewhere. The ebay cut sheet shows Sanesi driving the open car on test in 1961. The rectangular headlight show car was built in 62.

Of course Carter is correct. The car does look a bit different from that angle, and I had never seen a photo of the spider with the side windows up.
I also had never seen a photo of the car with the roof added.
Does Olczyk still have this car for sale?

The first TZ prototype "spider" had fixed sliding windows--always "up." There is a better, closer photo of Sanesi driving the car in an HK close at hand. The windows are slightly different on the car in construction at Z pictured in Minerbi, but they are also fixed frame.
The "TZ style" roof was quickly added to increase top speed.

Of all the fake TZ cars, the prototype is the one that would be worth building [but with full disclosure].

When Zagato got the task to build the predecessor of the SZ for the new 1600 or Giulia range. His first proposal was a spider. This first one was tested with several diff. hard tops until they came up with the final TZ as we know to day.
Attach pictures of what is claimed to be the Zagato Spider. Judged from drawing and pictures of the Zagato prototype spider, this one come close

I bought that artical off of eBay. As soon as I get it Ill scan it and post for all to enjoy. The seller said that it came from a Car and Driver magazine, 1962

Thank you Smestas, I am sure that a lot will look forward to reading the article. But if the article is from the beginning of the 70, it has been more than 10 years under way
Sorry to offend you Carter. But nice to se that you have gained surface, and is back on this forum. We don't know have many versions Zagato did on the prototype, and the pictures that is available is not of the best quality, so as I se it, these pictures gives an acceptable impression on the Zagato intentions, as i se them

You didn't offend me [though maybe the car did ]. I'll try to scan a better photo of the prototype TZ "spider," but notice that it has a very low nose, a very flat deck, and a cut-off Kamm tail. The hood opens like a production TZ. The details and overall appearance of the other car differ greatly...
I am happy to have surfaced, after a period of rebuilding me soon to be followed by rebuilding my shop. I don't often have a chance to drop in...

That's the one Olczyk was "brokering" as the TZ prototype

I managed to find a driver and program.
Here are some pictures of the Chassis 105.10 as period pictures. The work started as a 1300 TZ, probably short after the SZ was presented. So it had been underway for some time when the TZ was presented in 1962. We all know the success of the TZ, and reliability it shoved trough its time. There is always a relation in relay ability and the test that went on prior to introduction
