Thanks

Ok, now it is definitive that I have the "wrong" seats!

Will correct them one day.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Scott,

Why don´t you register here on ALFABB? You would be welcome and it would be nice to have another 1600 Sprint fellow alfista to share thoughts with, and you will probably need quering about more than seats, or is your Sprint in perfect condition otherwise?

I had tried to register several times. Looks like it finally worked.

Not sure what happened before.

Been hanging out on the BMW e9 board for years, since I have one of those too. Look forward to learning more from the BB.

My December 1962 1600 Spider (attn. jack is wrong, later 105 model).

And the straps should most certainly be black (natural leather = 1300 models), something I unfortunately didn´t know at the time of their fabrication.

Fantasy Junction keeps an extensive database of all cars sold, with detailed pics of the interiors. They probably have 30+ Sprints, Spiders, SSs, SZs from 1955-1965 on file, some in very original condition. I use it all the time, and I'm sure they don't mind the reference.

I'm replacing the headliner in my '61 101 series Sprint. The original headliner is so stiff & brittle I can't tell if it's cloth or some type of synthetic. The material available from Italy is "vipla," some sort of synthetic. From the US, I can get a vinyl "snakebite" pattern, or a more expensive quilted cloth. My interior is blue & cream, car color Magnolia. Which headliner material is closest to the original?
Thanks,
Don

Hi Don,

As far as I know the closest material to original headliners is available from elvezio.com. But then I haven´t seen what the anerican vendors offer, although it wouldn´t surprise me if they buy their materials and upholstry from Elvezio.

Size: 48.7 KBI recently had my 1961 Sprint Veloce interior completely replaced by Thomas Pocius at Thomas' Auto Trim. He said that the gray/white cloth material is still available in Italy. The original headliner material is not available. I am attaching photos of my interior, and will have the gray cloth around the door and window winder replaced with the silver material.

I used the original interior trim, seats, dash and sun visors. The original sun visors were welded and not sewn. Thomas said that he did not have any equipment to weld the sun visor material.

Throttle control

Kuni,
Does your Alfa have a rotary knob on the dash that controls the throttle? I am looking for a control like that for my earlier 6C 2500 and those parts are very scarce. I need to know what I am looking for. Apparently this control is used to adjust the idle speed, say for warming up the engine.

Fred,

Pictured are two variations of the 101 hand throttle control, one partly disassembled.
There was a good thread about these by Jburning five or six years ago.
