Jo Bonnier and Giulietta Sprint Veloce 1956

Hi,

I recently bought a Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita 1956 in need of final assembly, I like to know more about it's racinghistory with Jo Bonnier at the wheel in 1956-57.

Any kind of info of a Light Blue (Azzurro Nube), looks like white on black and white pictures, are welcome. I'm looking for documents, pictures etc from:

Rome GP 1956
Monza 1956
Avus 1956 and 1957
Aintree 1956
Swedish GP 1957

Anything with Jo bonnier in an SVA are of great interest from the years 1956 and 1957.

Ciao/ Bjorn

My car is 1493E02508, Jo Bonnier got it from Alfa Romeo as a gift for good raceresults and salesfigures in Sweden. Bonnier was the importer of Alfas in 1955-57, not sure about the exact dates. Bonnier brought about 200 Alfas to Sweden, some of them he raced before selling them as second hand, my is one of these cars.

Conserning the 04427, not all is true on the website. The O11144 is 1493E04038 and not 04227.

Bonnier used the same Veloce in Mille Miglia 1956 and in Nurburgring 1956, can't be the 04427 as it's built later than the MM 1956.

Bonnier wrote a book in early 60's called "Fast, Faster and Fastest", gives a very good picture about his racing career in the 50's.

Dr Stu Lovely pics you´ve got there.
Björn, call me as I´ve been looking at old Super 8 movies and have seen something that could have been your car but I´m not 100% sure.
Take a look in the Limited production forum under SVZ.
Cheers
Björn Nilsson

Hi Zagato I´ve read your intreseting article in the Giuliettaletta, so I know you got the complete registration records.
Having also spoken to the brothers you bought the car from and one of the previous racers Bertil Alm (lives next door to a friend of mine).
Further info is that KR Eriksson was a quite funny bloke he bought a new Alfa every year from about 1951 to about 1962 and he did race them.
Both my 1900 C and the Giulietta TI are bought new by KR Eriksson and raced by him.
I do know of some more 1900´s and Giuliettas he bought and raced.
I guess you´ve seen the book Speed in Sweden with a excellent shot of your car.
If I do come across some pics I´ll let you know.

The pic below is KR Eriksson at the 1953 Rally towards the midnight sun with his/mine 1900 C Sprint #1076

Wow, THAT is really a short wheel base. "Corto Gara", uh?

Seriously, is there a way to correct the problem with the pic?

Thanks for the pic and more generally for the interesting thread

Short wellbase takes you round the Pinetrees quicker The original picture is to big for the forum. So i had to scale it down the best I could...
The original size is avaiable at the 1900 yahoo forum board.
Or i can mail it to you if you want.
Ciao

Interesting that #81 appears to have small headlamps and #99 big ones...of course it could just be the angle of the photos
