I have a 1961 Sprint Veloce with an ARE body number. I never got an explanation of why the body is marked ARE instead of AR. My father purchased the car in June, 1961 and was the second owner. The car was purchased by an American and delivered in Switzerland. It was brought over to the United States and sold as a used car in Santa Monica, California. It is a regular steel bodied left hand drive with US gauges and lens. The car was delivered with a European license holder and fender mounted rear view mirrors.

John,

I have not heard from you since 1991 or 92 at least. How have you been doing? Good hearing from you. There is only one logical explanation I can think of, earlier 750 series version Veloce production were marked with an E for the Veloce designation, and since your car fall into the 101 where the E was possibly dropped; Someone might have had a memory laps and placed the E on the wrong place. I would need to take a look at my 60 Veloce, I thought that the E was dropped from the serial designation altogether! Anyway, There can not be any other reason as to some sort of special purpose vehicle. I am not an expert in the subject matter but, hope this helps.

Regards and hello again everyone.

Lionel

The latest on 06611

Who said that a Giulietta Sprint would not fit in a small Uhaul?

So what is your next step? I am restoring a 101 and enjoy following these sort of exploits.

For those who are interested I have available a number of copies of the F.I.A. 'SCHEDA D'OMOLOGAZIONE' for the Giulietta Sprint Veloce.
The quality is good enough if you need it for reference. It gives a short description of the technical details and shows images (10) of exterior/interior/suspension and engine.
Size of cover : A4 as per the original.
Pages : 4
Language : Italian
Publ. Nr. 569 - 4/1956
Price : USD 20 including delivery

Forgive me for asking a non GSV related question, but does anyone know where to get the clamps (posted on page 5 by 'alfa soon' - firewall photo) that secures the underbonnet airhose to the heater ? I know they are called 'Romablok' but never found a supplier.
I am looking for 2 of these for my mothers Giulia Spider 101.
