Really great info on the SV's! Thanks!
This got me wondering if my old # 1493 06546 still exists. It was a great car, I was just young and stupid.

Hello Dave,
Good hearing from you. We visited at the New Hampshire convention. You have an exceptional example and I appreciate your offer for assisting me with pictures. I am planning to be in Detroit and hope to see you there again. Since I last posted pictures on my restoration journal I have experienced some events and will be happy to update later.
Regards,
Lionel

Every confortovole I have seen had a full rear seat rather than a package shelf...

Factory Archives/1956 SV Papers
How do you contact the factory regarding production records for a certain chassis no.? I recently bought a driver-condition 1961 Sprint (Normale). I would like to know its original color and country of delivery if possible. I was told it spent most of its life in California, has LHD and english guages, but has a Euro license plate holder?? BTW, don't mean to hijack this thread ..will post some pictures of the restoration as it proceeds in a separate thread. P.S.- I have a zeroxed set of original factory homologation papers for a 1956 SV, complete with a spec sheet and chassis/engine #s and some representative photos if anyone wants to add to their registers? Cheers-
Phil

Register at the Alfa Historico website
http://www.archiviostorico.alfaromeo...m.0&language=1
Then you can send them an e-mail from that site with the chassis number. Within 2 days you will get an e-mail back with all the information they have on the car. The head of the archives is Mr.Magro, who is VERY helpful..

The archive is now run by Marco Fazio, Mr Magro having left. Mr Fazio is also very helpful and efficient so direct your enquiry to him.

Phil, could you also be so kind as to scan these docs and send me a copy?
Many thanks

Just a passing comment. I have commissioned a run of the aluminium extrusion to make the side sliding window frames for a Lightweight. Anyone who needs insurance or material for frames from scatch...give me a call.

Matt et al,
My project has been put on hold. Between my real job and other work have been keeping me in hiding. I will post photos of what has transpired since. Matt, I have truly enjoyed reading your page on the Sprints and SS. Thanks,
Regards,
Lionel

Lionel,
I have a 1961 Sprint Veloce with an ARE body number. I never got an explanation of why the body is marked ARE instead of AR. My father purchased the car in June, 1961 and was the second owner. The car was purchased by an American and delivered in Switzerland. It was brought over to the United States and sold as a used car in Santa Monica, California. It is a regular steel bodied left hand drive with US gauges and lens. The car was delivered with a European license holder and fender mounted rear view mirrors.

Lionel, I appreciate hearing the work I've done is appreciated. BTW, do you mind letting me know the Bertone number of your car? I'm working on a post about their numbers and your car is a significant point in the data. In 2 months I've managed to gather about 50!
Thanks!
