Sir ,

We are in possession of a 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce SVZ Zagato & would need a complete restoration of the vehicle . Unfortunately the vehicle is missing its engine & all cosmetics . All that is there is the shell , gear box ,

differential & wheels .
The Body is 750E type
Chassis # 1493 04249
Engine # 1315 30486
The car is in Madras , India . would you be able to recommend a good workshop for the restoration ? Our primary need is a 750 series twin cam twin carb engine. It would be of great help if you could give me contact details of spares suppliers for this Alfa in Italy .
Your assistance woul be of great help in restoring this rare car.
With Best wishes & anticipation of a favorable reply .
Sincerely,
Manmohan Sahani

PLEASE post photos and anything you have on the history of the car; especially how it wound up in India!

The parts can be found, but a total, PROPER restoration will not be cheap!

NtB Early 750 Veloce block

I currently have a early 750 Veloce available.I have a couple other 750 Veloce blocks and engines. (Sorry no DCO3 or intake manifolds.) I have one listed on Ebay now , block # AR 131 3xxxx. The early 750 are somewhat different a later 750 block. Not a known fact , but it was about 1958 a change was made. I very quick look at the oil filter housing area will show one machine work difference, another is like the early Normale blocks the sand cast embossed markings, not on the later 750 Alfa engines. Yes, if you own a rare early Alfa having the right parts does one main thing, add value. I see and hear how owners go out of the way not to have the CORRECT alfa parts on the car, which is ok.
interests need to email me alfas07@neo.rr.com
I will need to take a few photos for those that need to see to believe.

Even though a restoration of this car will be expensive and time consuming and probably difficult from a location like India it would certainly be worthwhile for this very rare car. The existance of this SVZ has been known for many years and I suspect the condition has rather deteriorated . Chasis 04249 was transformed from a SV into a SVZ in 1959. First owner was Dario Sepe.It probably competed in the Targa Florio in 1959 under no. 38. The car was sold to an Italian diplomat in 1960 who took it to Bombay. The third owner was somebody in Madras who sold it to someone in Coimbatore . UK Giulietta Register member Rajesh Malhotra was the last known owner who tried to buy it for 15 years. The car is pictured on page 45 of Hughes/Witting da Prato book "Veloce Racing Giuliettas" where it looks in excellent condition.
It is a great shame the condition is now so bad because genuine SVZ are ultra rare and very valuable. The photo (sorry for the bad quality) shows the car as copies from the UK "Giulietta Letta" .

Wish to set the record straight. SVZ #04249 does not belong to the person who had posted "Help needed......". I have owned the car (the shell really...!) since 1990. Anyone giving an impression otherwise is misleading. I have also pointed it out to Gino Giugno to make a correction in the next edition of his book "Giulietta Sprint Veloce Zagato". Status on restoration still the same, car needs to be restored. Am determined to have it done..... project for 2009 !!. Perhaps at the hands of an overseas specialist. Recommendations welcome. Also in need of restoration is my '67 Lancia Flaminia 2.8 3C, Touring Convertible.
