As great a work as the Fusi book is, there are some known errors in it. The 00118 engine type number listed in Fusi as being fitted to a 10118 chassis would appear to be one of those errors. Please read this post for some more information.

perhaps it has been mounted due to the change of regulation in usa (polution)
but the right one is the round one . anyway the sprint gt model is not so rare
and the price you will find has to be more resonable !
the real round SS or veloce aluminium carb box is generaly sold at a very high price (600 to 800 dol)as its more or less impossible to find !

Hi Giulietta 10103,
Christian Ondrak's E-Mail is <ondrak@okparts.net>. I do not know the current cost. The unit is stainless steel, and would avoid the problem of internal rusting the OEM cannisters suffered from. Enough has been written (above)about the differences between the round and oval outlet cannisters, so you probably know which one you are looking require. Gordon Raymond

Hello Gents

Pepiot - the pictures of the 1300 & 1600 cannister you posted, both with round holes - the one with the short neck is a 1300 Spider / Sprint Veloce or 1300 SS. The matching airbox is the RHS one top picture.

The one with the long neck & round hole, (+ round hole airbox on LHS) is for a Giulia Sprint Speciale only.

The last picture of the 2 with long necks & oval holes:

The LHS one without the rubber tube is for a Giulia Spider Veloce & the air filter also has an oval hole. These aluminium plenums were also used on the very early 105 Series Giulia Sprint GT. The cam cover does not have the breather tube & the motor has the dump pipe at the back, just below the head. My '64 Sprint GT is like this.

The extra casting on the lid to take the rubber tube was for the the later 105 cars to take the cam cover breather.

i am sure the alfa parts list is not true , and you know all that much better
than the genuine "ricambi originali " but have a look to the real thing , just for fun ,even if the manufacturer does not know what parts are fitted to the cars he does !

Giulia SS air filter

Bonjour Pepiot

Unfortunately Alfa made a few mistake in their manuals & that is one of them

The picture is of a Giulia SS filter assembly - almost the same, but the Giulia SS has round tubes, while the Giulia Spider Veloce used the oval tubes.

This is the best picture I have (yes, I did ask permission)

Ciao

Hello, I looked at the "Veloce" air filter offered and appears as though the oval tube
that accepts the rubber hose going to the carbs is welded around the oval tube?
I do not think this is correct as there should be a spot welded sheet metal shoulder.
Thanks Mike J alfaman1966gtv@gmail.com
