750 and 101 series engines
Does anyone know what the differences are between these engines? I have two blocks and want to know whether they are 750 or 101 series engines.
Cheers,

Alex,
A 101 block should have a motor number with 101 as the first three numbers. A 750 block will start with 1315xxxxx.
If you don't have series numbers then it is more difficult. The 750 is a bit of an odd duck, best used when originality is the limiting factor
If you have a choice and don't need originality a 105 block is a bit stronger than the others.

Thanks! Are the 750 blocks worth anything? I have two to sell.

Oh yes, for the guys who have to have the period correct nuts and washers, a 750 block would be the bees knees.
Don't know how to exchange bees knees to dollars though. I'd do a search on completed items on ebay and watch the adds at the Giulietta Register.

Sometimes it's the little pieces connected to the block that are sought after....

Thanks!
I'll be preparing a list of stuff, as I just got a whole barn-full of Giulietta parts which I have no use for.

They can be especially valuable if they are veloce blocks- which should be 1351.30.001 to 1315.33.000 in numbers. Spider and Sprint Veloces used the same engine.
.00.001 to .09.002 are 750B/ Sprint motors
.50.001 to .74.950 are 750C/ Berlina motors
and .40.001 to 45.854 are 750D/ Spider motors.
Selling the with the Serial number can be very helpful, and the Fusi book can estimate which year the engine was made, and one can get an idea if the engine is close to the correct build date.
From what I know, the 750's were not documented all that carefully, so as long as your engine is close, you are ok. I managed to find a Veloce motor that is very close in range to the Spider Veloce chassis that I have.
Good stuff!

Alex, when you get the Giulietta stuff inventoried, you should post a list to the 750/101 list on Yahoo Groups. If the numbers aren't present on the blocks, you could check the main bearing size to determine 750 versus 101. While the rods are the same, the mains are bigger on the 101. I suspect there are other simply ways to check as well. The blocks themselves aren't worth that much, unless they are from a very early car or a veloce. But a good uncut crank is getting pretty valuable.
I bought a spare block off ebay a couple years ago that has a number appropriate for my '56 Giulietta Spider for $125 or so. I guess that makes me one of those guys who uses period-correct nuts and washers! Now the GTV, that's a different story.

1300 Head ?
I'm building a 1300 race engine and I have a head of unknown history. It's supposed to be new and looks unused. What does the serial number tell me 10100-01500-05. ? Is this a 101 or a 105 head ? What diameter is the small port. ?
Thanks Don Queen
