Where are all the Alleggerita Giuliettas...

In Auto, Motor und Sport 19/1957, A. Zeller, from Hammerau, Oberbayern, had a SVA for sale, in as new condition, with 17500 kms and 2 sports seats, because of the death of the owner.

Joachim Springer from Tutzing, Oberbayern, had some Giulietta entries in early 1958 and announced a SVA in Auto, Motor und Sport 14/1958, a 1957 car (?), red, with 31000 kms.

Springer was a well known rally driver from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, in 1966 he published the book "Rallye Sport", which was a standard item for more than 10 years in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

A report about the 1959 Wallberg-Rennen in the german "Auto, Motor und Sport" magazine mentioned Ernst Ludwig Furtmayer as a classwinner in his very first race, driving the ex-Zeller/ex-Springer Veloce.

Furtmayr, from Dachau, Bayern, then raced a SVA from mid 1959 to mid 1960. Not sure if it was always the same car, because I have noted two different registration plates. During the 1961 season he drove a SVZ, the VIN of this car is not known by now. For 1962 he bought SZT *00176*, and later he raced GiuliaTI, TIS, TZ and GTA until the end of 1965. In about 1969 he was European Mountain-Champion in Touringcar-category with a BMW2800CS.

Since he raced so many years in so many cars, he did not really remember where they all came from or went to, so I was told by the current owner of SZT *00176*.


Btw, Kurt Zeller won his class in the 1956 GP Adriatico at Opatija/Abbazia in Yugoslavia (now Croatia), which should not be confused with the Italian Rallye Adriatico

I haven't spoken with my father very long about it, so here just a few more infos.

My father bought the car around 1980 from Mr. Hoven (I think thats the right spelling). The car was in quite a bad condition but with a new paintshop (to hide the rust...?!). The aluminium bumpers were missed too.
My father got curious because of the aluminium parts and as soon as he found out about the existance of Alleggerita Giuliettas, he bought it. He restored the car until about 1986. At that time the car got for example the 3 shoe drum brakes (SS/SZ spec). The seats are unlike Sprint seats tubular lightweight seats (but not like SS/SZ seats) and were believed to be the original ones.
My fathers first intention was, to do some vintage racing with the car, but the rising professionalism and rising costs there frightened him off.
In the mid 80s my father found original aluminium bumpers, one from Berlin, Germany, one from Zürich, Swizzerland, both more or less by accident.

My father had in the 80s contact to some folks like Dr Bieling (the co driver of Kurt Zeller at the 1000km Nürburgring race and others), Walter Zeller and a guy who spoke with Mr König (from Auto König, Munich).

Dr Bieling could tell us interesting anecdotes about the Nürburgring race. Mr Zeller couldn't remember much details about the car and just sent my father some pics (like the one I posted earlier here). Mr König could remember the car very good, as it was the first SV delivered in Germany. He was sure that the car came from Zagato! What was done there is not known.

That the engine was tuned by Facetti was not known by us. Where is that info from?
