Pat

Just received preliminary approval from US Customs.

If the Sprint arrives at the border before 3 PM on Friday--we are through.

Otherwise, next week.

I'm thinking about keeping the white color.

I thought I would just keep the one going on "air conditioning".

Also, thanks for your comments of a couple of weeks ago.

Bob

spider clearance issues redux

I jumped on this thread a few weeks ago because I was having a problem with the right front suspension on my 1963 Giulia spider sitting inches lower than the left, despite new springs and other suspension components. Thanks for all the advice and photos centered around using spacers.

I found this product from Boston-based Performatek; it may be helpful to others with height/clearance issues:

Came across this video on 3 GTOs in SoCal back in the '60s - and note how a Cal Spyder was treated back then - a mere Ferrari roadster, and definitely not worth $5 Million.

Hope everyone enjoyed the video; too bad no sound from the cars came through.

Went driving tonight in the dark to aim the headlights and to wring it out some more before the upcoming 300+ mile Jaunt on Saturday. The sky was clear but cold; however, the two-laners were empty and I had the green-light from Glenn to rev it up to 5K. I haven't driven a convertible at night in a while, and it's a totally different feeling; it's just my Alfa and me - a bit like the Ferrari rushing through Paris just before dawn, except I had stars in place of blinking traffic lights. What an exquisite car, the Alfa is.

I'll probably take her out again tomorrow night but this time I'll bring my video camera along. It'll probably just be pitch-dark and all you'll hear is the exhaust blipping away. Fun!

Dear Patrick,
Once a Cal Spider was a sports car just as your Giulia is now. Too bad its pretty much become something else, but it always was large and cumbersome on the tight twisties. It is still a good freeway car. And its become not a sportscar but a large 'investment'. Nice video, but I'll enjoy the jaunt Saturday even more...
