Two more things:
If you haven't come across it, Matt (alfa_soon) has a great thread going on his recently-acquired '62 Spider's revival - extremely edifying due to his experience and expertise.
Lastly, does anyone have a headlight ring with the Carello script at 12 o'clock that one'd like to sell? Need one. Thanks.

Thanks for the praise Patrick. I hate to fess up to it, but I have never done most of the things I am doing to the car. I'm just using common sense and taking stuff apart, cleaning it and putting it back together without letting the apart stuff outweigh the together stuff by too much!
Give me a call if you want any help putting stuff together on your car- I may actually develop a tiny bit of expertise from all my experience over the last few weeks.

Thanks, Matt; I just might take you up on your offer when I get the shell back and start putting things back on it.
We talked on the phone once last year regarding Momo Vegas; not sure if you still remember.

Headlight ring
Pat,
I have a mismatched pair. One has Carello Torino stamped on the ring on the back of the unit and one is unmarked. What do you have? Maybe we can make to matched sets...

Terry,
As my rings are at the painter's right now, I can only recall from memory. I do recall one ring having the Carello script stamped on TOP of the ring (facing the sky, that is), while the other had no outer visible script. I'm not sure what's "behind/inside" either of the rings. I'd be happy to trade if you're fine with having a set of non-scripted rings. It seems there are many types of 750/101 rings floating around out there, if I remember correctly; I guess we'll have to rely on sending pictures back and forth.

Happy Days!
Sorry about the delay, but I picked up my Giulia from the painter's today, and I'm simultaneously a very happy and worried man.
The black looks SINISTERLY (my painter and I both see an unmistakable dose of Darth Vader in the car) gorgeous!!! If there is such a thing. We gave her three coats of polyurethane black, topped with three coats of clear. The result is a very deep sheen to the black, hence my being a happy man; HOWEVER, I already see polish swirls and scratches on it. Many of you warned me against black, but I wouldn't listen, would I? I'm already starting to develop a daily dusting regimen - involving the wife, since I supposedly am restoring the car for her... she's not falling for it.
Please enjoy the pictures, and thanks so much for sticking around this long to enjoy this stage of the restoration with me. Lots more to come, obviously.

Additional shots from inside the tow vehicle (where the trunk lid and hood are resting) and to show the undercoating (UK-sourced) underneath the chassis:

My painter included for me a CD supposedly full of pictures taken during each step of the metal/bodywork/painting process. I'll post these pics to my website in a few days and provide a link to it here on this thread.
As Akitaman likes to say, "Thanks for looking!"
It might be time to change my avatar too...

Wow Patrick, that thing looks like a big sinister insect or something. Awesome! Can't wait to see it all together.
Don't worry so much about flaws in the paint now, when you're done you can take it to a high dollar detail shop and they will get it as smooth as you want.

Pat,
The black looks great. No other color makes chrome trim look as good. I think you'll be very pleased with it when the car is finished. Have you decided on an interior color?

Hi Simon and Mike,
Thanks very much for the compliments. Mike, the interior is slated to be as sinfully red as your car's! And thanks for your previous help.

Patrick, Your body looks fantastic. After my discussion on color I’m more than convinced going for black. I’m really looking forward to see your assembling process with all nice chrome.
By the way, what type of paint did you use under the car and inside fenders etc?
Ciao Joakim

Congratulations Patrick. Don't worry about the scratches they polish out every now and then and, frankly, after a few years, you start not to worry. My car was painted black some 12 years ago and looks fine still. Go and see it, it is in Conrad's place in Berkley at the moment.
