Let's not have nightmares over this...
Patrick
Nearly all the major petroleum embezzlers ... I mean ... companies, have a GL-1 gear lubricant made from mineral oil. Check out this cross reference chart and find someone local selling the product you desire. Be sure to confirm the viscosity in whatever product line you choose.

Ok, a "sucky thing" is exactly what I need. I'll check out Sears' website.
For annoying insects that buzz incessantly inside my house, I use a DustBuster when they're up against a window pane. Captivity and eventual death guaranteed, and no gunking up your lightened gear-sets inside your gearbox with fly-goop.
Misspellng "Dentax" pulled up nothing on Google - I'll try the correct spelling. What is the correct weight on the Dentax that I should be using? Here's what I found thus far, 80W90:
F&L Petroleum Products

Dear Patrick,
You will find Dentax In Berkeley. Jon Norman's Alfa parts has it. I have it and I'm usually around on Saturdays except at lunch time. I also have sucky things. But ask Glenn: DOESN"T your car has a different transmission than original? He will have seen it when you guys installed the engine! He will know.
Your friend,
Laurence

Giorgio, you nailed it, as usual. That's the spitting image of my "sucky thing". If you have a veterinarian supply store near you, they have large syringes that will work in a pinch.

Pat, my experience with the "sucky" thing really sucks. Did I say that?
Anyway, the hole to put the sucky thing in on the gearbox case is almost blocked by the gears inside and you end up with the smelly chit running down your arm as you put the chit in faster than it will take it.
In a Giulietta, for sure, it is much easier to fill from the shift tower. Simply remove the tunnel carpet and the two boots and pour. As soon as the first drip hits the LA Times you are done.
It's a good time to check the condition of the boots and the clamps as this is where 90% of the oil leaks originate.
This is a long thread and I apologize if I am dittoing a previous post. Rick

No Way! I stay away from those veterinarians ... they work wa-a-a-y too deep in a pinch:

Hard to post after seeing that photo, but as a public service:
The easy solution to transmission filling is to put the car on a lift and use a Jabsco Handy Boy hand pump ( Utility Hand Pumps > General Purpose Pumps > Marine > Jabsco - ITT), usually available at marine supply stores.
Thanks to a referral on AlfaBB, I just bought a pail of Dentax 80/90 from Maine Potato Growers (just Google). Nice people, fair price, quick delivery.

Spacers for front springs Giulia Spider
Guys:
Talk about sucky things! Long and complicated story, but despite new heavy duty springs and konis, my driver's side suspension, sits lower than passenger side (perhaps some long ago damage to rails) It didn't happen on my watch and I've owned the car since 1981.
I want to purchase some spacers (varying thickness) that I can put in the spring seats to level the suspension.
Also, with the left front down, the right rear is elevated. (Make sense?)
Any help appreciated. Spacers or theories.

Actually once you remove any spring, you can see what the aluminum "spacer" spring plates are like. It is not a problem to machine nesting spacers from aluminum stock with this sample. These were sold by Autodelta from the mid '60's to the mid 70's in sets of four (or three, I forget), each of a different thickness. Back then, the purpose was to adjust camber angle AND ride height with the Autodelta Giulia / Giulietta spring sets they also sold.
The car is DESIGNED to sit level empty, with the front springs the same height as one another, and the rear springs the same height as one another. IF the springs are correct, and the spacers correct, there is chassis damage that must be addressed for both safety and drivability.

Many have told me that once the car runs, the incomplete tidbits will take another five year to complete. I have yet to even look at the top assembly, and in fact really don't want to! I forced myself to start finishing the interior, however.
Missing two things: the metal clips behind the door panels, as well as a correct '63 dash-top rear-view mirror. Does anyone know where I can get these, or have a decent one for sale?
I also installed some sound insulation pads from HushMat. I stuck on a few pieces inside the doors (you peel off the backing and stick it on), and inside the rear fender, just behind the doors. The plan is to do the floors, transmission tunnel, and possibly the firewall. All of it will be underneath carpeting or vinyl, and will not be visible. I'll take some photos tomorrow and post.

Pat
What i did with the Hushmat was to go "tap-tap-tap" with my knuckles--getting every panel that resonated.
Door panel, aft of the doors, across the cowl aft of the rear seat, and then inside the rear fenders. Floors as well.
Huge reduction in the overall noise level --added about 11 pounds.
