Does the GTB feel less nimble? I wonder what the weight differential is...

Yes. Much stiffer, but less tossable. Alfa Ausca Spider, 1880 Lbs wet. 275GTB 2988 Lbs wet. The Alfa has MUCH more body roll and motion, but once it's set up, it stays that way and is forgiving of driver error. The 275 has 50/50 weight distribution, and if you start to loose it, it's just as happy going 180 degrees backwards as forward.

Believe it or not, Gordon, I saw just ONE 275 GTB at Concorso this year - what, too expensive now to show?! Their value sure has gone up, though. Classic Ferraris-wise, there were some 330 GTCs, some 250 GTEs, a few Dinos, and that's it! No SWBs, Cal. Spiders, PF Coupes, or GTOs. What's the world coming to?
While tooling around on Hwy. 1 today, an 360 Modena Cabriolet came up from behind and passed me; I waved as he zoomed by, but was ignored. Gordon, I'd sell that Ferrari if I were you, and stay a friendly Alfista.

A few videos that I shot while driving - notice I couldn't shift gears!
Cars and drivers: red Spider, Dave Buchanan; blue Sprint, Brad Baum/Doug Klein; red Sprint GT Veloce, Chris Felfe.

A bigger problem has developed - the gear oil leak; it's in fact splashing out from the "tower" where the shifter resides, and trickling down the outer surface of the gearbox and onto the ground. The aluminum tower lip is a bit beat up, so the rubber boot isn't able to seal nicely against it; I wonder if some in-situ grinding is in order? We applied some silicone around the contact area between tower and boot, obviously to no effect.
On another note, what do folks use for gear oil? Dentax is one I've heard of, but not sure if that's what Glenn used (he's away), and I'm leery of mixing different oils in the gearbox- I'm asking because I'm not sure how much oil has splashed out; I might need to add some before driving it this weekend. Thanks for comments!

On moly synchros the advice to me has been Redline NS
Without, it's Shell Dentax.

Patrick,
All the towers splash oil out. The purpose of the inner boot is to allow it to drain back down through the drain hole in the tower. For racing, we used to perform this pictured modification. Also besides the curved discs, there is a top circular retainer just below the shift lever attachment that holds an 'O" ring. Finally, if the pinch bolt is a 6 mm in a 7 mm hole, it allows the lever to attach a tad high. Oil will come out the top but should be captured by the boot and drain back.
With non moly syncros Dentex is correct. Many use it with moly syncro's as well, and change it annually. The difference is that Dentex is a low pressure gear oil and allows the old style rings more bite. The place you will get into trouble is using a high pressure gear oil with old syncro's. No bite, results in grinding gears.
Next, though it may appear messy, it is unlikely you have lost much gear oil. Pull the filler plug and stick your finger in. If you can easily touch the remaining oil, you have plenty, and can await Glenn's return.
