Despite a stormy day in northern California, I got some work done in a toasty garage. These were minor jobs that included installing all sections of the fuel line, as well as the driver's side door handle/opening mechanism.

About the fuel line, the kinked "coupling" section ends up right under a chassis cross-member, which I find a bit strange; unfortunately I do not have a photo of how it was before. Help?

That's about where they end up. If you stretch the tank line a little, the "S" ends up a little further forward. If you rotate the fittings, some can be secured both on the frame member, and floor pan, with the bendable clips. Some are only clipped on the frame member, others only the floor pan. I've seen all sorts of factory installation!

Got Side-tracked!

Since this little guy arrived, absolutely NO work has been accomplished!

Never mind the May deadline that I'd set for myself for getting the car back on the road; will shoot for the Concorso Italiano date in August instead Wish me luck!

Congrats Patrick!
Do you get to sleep? We were lucky, my daughter kept my hours (up 'till 3 am) and my son kept my wife's hours, asleep by 7 up @ 7. What a cutie!

Congratulations Patrick,

They are little bundles of joy aren't they? I hope you can make the Concorso.

All the best,

Tom

Thanks very much, guys. With the little dude around, it's very difficult for me to get away to Berkeley to work on my engine, or to work in the garage for over an hour, for that matter - but Tina's (the wife) VERY understanding, she knows that the car is ALMOST as important as the kid.

Currently Jules (that's his name) wakes up whenever he wants, and sleeps whenever he wants - that means I don't have any schedule of my own; it's all up to him. What joy! But once he's a few months older, I'll be sure to put him in the car seat and set it by the Giulia in the garage for an hour or two each day, slowly but steadily breathing it in... one day he's going to restore me an Alfa, whether he likes it or not - one cannot escape one's own destiny.

Dear Patrick,

Family trumps the Giulietta Jaunt! My heart rejoices for your good fortune. This is his time, and Tina's and yours as well!

Keep posting as you can, but you've just downshifted for the steep and twisty part, keep your eyes looking around the corner on this section, the view at the top is worth it!
It's a long and winding road...you may want to drive a Berlina for a while, with a baby seat. Ever notice how a baby sometimes only will settle down during a long motorcar ride when everything else just won't do?

Your friend,
L

Pat--good news!

On some practical advice--it helps to understand that an infant,as beguiling as they are, is simply about 18 feet of tubing--completely undisciplined at both ends.

And as they advance beyond this--the rewards are wonderful. Even when they learn how to do these--

Thanks everyone for your encouragement; I'll keep it all in mind when he "sprays" me in the face at 2 in the morning.

Lucky for him, Jules will grow up having lots of "Alfa-Grandpas" online in yourselves to show him how to bend brake tubes, free of charge!

I'm starting to think that a Giulia Ti would fit rather well in my stable; naturally, it'll be made into a black car... with a white rooftop!

Congratulations Patrick!

It's nice to see that there will be new caretakers for our cars in the generations to come.

I think you'll find that with true love and care, he'll soon stop leaking. You will go through quite a few filter changes though.

Congrats Pat

Pat 25 years ago my helper was born so I thought. Well he started pulling the Guilietta apart at 16 but soon found a 67 Le Mans there went my helper. Thats why I'm still putting it back together alone. Start him young there is nothing better than a Gopher when working on Alfa's. Hopefully he'll be the one driving it. Good Luck they are a thrill.

Well done Patrick, or should I really congratulate your wife! My two did the Mille with me last year, in another Alfa. Enjoy every moment.
PS if the restoration has now as a result become too much, Frank and I would take it off your hands!!!!!! Just to assist you understand.
