Tire balancing?

Can the tires on a Giulietta be balanced from the center of the wheel with cones like the cars now days? The reason I ask is on my 69 mustang those wheels have to be balanced from the stud holes because the center hole in not concentric with the wheel.

The center hole is concentric on the rear hub of later cars (105 and 115 axle), not certain if so on the 101 axle but I think so. Not concentric on the front. I've had no trouble ever getting Alfa steel or alloy wheels balanced on current machinery.

Generically for our cars the centering of the wheel on the hub is done by the bolts. Since they have a cone shape, they will center it properly over the studs.
Hub centering is less accurate with steel wheels and hubs of this age. If the hub center even exists!
Hub centering for modern alloys can be used due to much more accurate production techniques for casting alloy and machining them.
So treat them as you would your Mustang wheels. Thats what technology was in the 60's!

When we discuss this: ensure you have roundness of your rims as well. Tolerances were not as good as today either, making unroundness thought of as unbalance. Try to match the highest point of the wheel to the lowest point of the tire.

If you can find a shop that'll do it, and want to spend the extra dosh, spin balancing on the car will give the bestest results. (right up until you rotate the tires or remove the wheel and put it back on in a different orientation of course)
