Sleeving a brake master cylinder

Hi all,

I know that this topic has been hashed over several times, but I wanted to report about a good experience that I had with having my master cylinder sleeved.

Joe at BrakeCylinders.com really went out of his way for me and really did some gorgeous work.

brakecylinder.com and Sierra Specialty Automotive.

I know that the debate rages about whether stainless or brass is better for this sort of thing. From everything that I have gathered, they both have their place. Also, that the most important thing is that the job be done right. Joe works in brass, and I am very happy with my choice.

There is some discussion and some pictures on the website about the stainless/brass issue that are worth reading.

Check it out. Give Joe a call if you need your master cylinder reworked.

Cheers,
Jon

I forgot to mention that Joe describes how the pistons in these old Girling master cylinders will sometimes become pitted. He has commissioned some hard anodized aluminum replacement pistons to overcome this problem. No more pitting!

Jon

Edit: the anodized piston is the bottom one.
