Dilemma...

I'm looking for some advice ... I have a 1959 intermediate series Sprint which was converted to competition spec :-

1300 Veloce+ spec engine based on 1300 105 block/head, high compression forged pistons, twin 40 DCOE Webers, etc

5-speed close ration gearbox

Stripped interior with bucket seats & full bolt-in cage.

Plexiglass windows all round with exception of front windscreen. Lightweight Veloce-style sliding door windows.

Car is in excellent (nr immaculate) condition.

The dilemma is this - I need to raise some money & wondered what people's views are about selling off the original (std) parts that came with the car:

Original (non Veloce) engine (condition unknown)
Original 4-speed gearbox
Original glass & door winding mechanisms
Interior - front seats, door panels, rear side panels, etc

Would I regret selling these parts if I ever come to sell the car & would having these original parts add significantly to the value of the car ?

What sort of value (approx) would these parts have ?

Any advice/comments appreciated.

Hi, one consideration is that the original engine block and chassis number match factory production numbers, and in some instances the engine block number was used as the DMV registration number. However, you could just keep a record of who the original block was sold to with the car.

2 lira's worth

Typically, the value of the original parts should not be a bonus in the case of a race car...In this case, the same is true. The car is a race car for anyone who is going to buy it, with or without the street motor and parts. Most racers don't give a flying rats if the original motor and trans is in a box but it would be NICE to have to file away. I would say the parts are just about nothing other than a lever to close the deal closer to where you think it should be vs where the buyer says it should be. There is no such thing as a MARKET price on Sprint race cars. I would hold the original parts in my hip pocket until you have an interested party but only expose them if the party is serious. You shouldn't have that many takers initially. Once you expose your aces in the hole, you are still going to try for the asking number. They will not constitute a higher price. You state the price you say you will part with it and someone comes along and either counters or agrees. If his counter is lower than your asking price, well, you might throw in the stuff to make him more agreeable .

Thanks for the comments so far.

In case I didn't word my original question very clearly, I am not planning to sell the car in the forseeable future but am thinking of selling the original parts - can anyone give me an approx idea of what they might be worth (or is it simply a case of listing them on ebay & seeing what happens) ?
