Giulietta Spider - questions

Hello,

I have some questions about Giulietta Spider:
- Did 750 series had split case gearbox? If yes, does anyone knows from when?
- Did 750 series had only Lucas taillights, or was there other taillights?
- When was polarity changed on 750 series?
- Did 750 had any changes on engine during production and when?
- Was fuel pump position changed at any time in production and when?
- When was windshield height changed?

Thank you in advance on any help with this informations.
Regards,
Zlatko

The 750 Spiders (Veloce and Normale) used a tunnel-case until mid 58 or around car number 1495.04811. The split-case 4 spd was used after that.

750 Spiders used the small Lucas tail lamps until transition cars started using a variation of parts. Around car 1495.08000 they started with the glove box door and other 101 types of changes. Probably impossible to know exactly when the tail lamps were changed.

All 750 Veloce Spiders were neg. ground and Normales were positive ground.

All 750 Veloce Spiders had the elec fuel pump in the back and all Normales had the head mounted fuel pump. There were some small changes in the engine (cam caps were changed for example)

I have not seen a difference in windshield height on any Giulietta Spider.

Zlatko,

With respect to the rearlights, I believe that there was a difference between the European Spiders and the US spiders. The US cars had the Lucas lenses and the Euro cars had carello lights. There where other small differences between Euro and Us cars like side indicators on the front guards, the Euro cars had them while US cars did not. Also the gauges where in italian and metric on most Euro cars and in miles etc in the US cars.
With respect to your other questions, I had the same impression as Dave has.

regards,

Jelle

Again with respect to rear lights, in 1966 or so when I went to Gaston Andre in Framingham, MA to get replacement lenses for my '59 Spider's broken taillights, the parts man told me to bring in the old ones and he would match them up. Her said that the lights on any particular car depended on which barrel Guido reached into when they were assembling the car. I opted for the European style with amber directionals.

Thank you all for help.
Regarding windshield, I have data that in Septembre 1961 ( model 62' ) they started to fit higher version - like later on Giulia Spider.
I have also seen some Normale engines that do not have head mounted fuel pump. I dont know if that was factory model or later change by owner.

Could someone sugest me what would be best book for Giulietta's?
Thank you,
Zlatko
