Interesting.....why is the trunk firewall padded you think? Doesn't make sense right? no heat or nothing. So:

- the horizontal aswell as the vertical panels in the spare tire area have grey insulation? Of which the horizontal area is covered with a rubber mat.
- the sparetireclampmount area and the section below the seats are covered in vinyl.
- the engine firewall has different insulation (saw this item for sale somewhere, so think I can figure this last one out) and is also covered with a rubber mat.

That's it?

Jorg,
Yes, you've got it. I think the gray insulation pad on the trunk firewall is just for noise reduction, same as the pad beneath the spare tire. And the Alfa logo rubber floor mat only covers the lower part of the black insulation pad on the engine firewall. Most of the black insulation pad is visible when installed.

Ausca 1600 Giulia Veloce insulation.

Oh yes the transmission hump is missing quite a bit, including the ashtray and transmission. I pulled it apart last fall to replace a couple of bearings in the transmission. That was done, but now work on customers projects has slowed my reassembly.
The firewall in front of the foot wells has the same insulation as the spare tire area under the rubber mat.
Here are a couple more. The first is the spare tire hold down clamp and the vinyl as Alfa, (NOT GEORGE) did it. Not quite as neat. Second is the vinyl running under the passenger seat with the snap, again pictured. Notice that Alfa did not lack for PLENTY of Alfa glue! {Clearly, my friend George did not use nearly enough!!! }

SUPER!!!

Last question...again....

Does anyone know where I can buy the grey insulation? I saw some parts dealers have the engine firewall but it's a fortune. I can imagine that there must be somebody out there selling these things for less

Try Christian Ondrak, OK Parts in Germany. He has the hood liner, and might be able to source the rest from that source. Tell him I sent you. Christian is a very good, honest supplier.

Thanks Gordon, I am familiar with okparts, almost bought my entire car there I find it a good, fast and reliable partsdealer, very happy with them. Haven't seen the insulation on their site but I'll give them a call.

Big advantage that they are located in Europe so you don't have to wait for clearance by customs as you do with stuff coming from the outside the EU. Still waiting for my vinyl, is in customs for over a week now... So unfortunately can't start on in this weekend, but I do have my licenseplates so she's going out on her maiden trip tomorrow If there's no rain ofcourse

Can't wait

It's rained so much here I've got a bilge pump in the pit under my Alfa. Still haven't been able to get my transmission back in!

George,

In looking at pics of your spider interior a phrase comes to mind "A thing of beauty is a joy forever". Well done. Gordon, your car is no slouch either..

Ian

Talking "A thing of beauty..."

All these cars are wonderful. Even those that need a total restoration, as they will be saved for the future. I knew a "keeper" when I bought mine 43+ years ago!
Ian is right, it is "a joy forever".
George, I found that picture somewhere in the "changing subjects within threads", and use the line so often, I now attach the actors picture to give credit where credit is due!

I am at the same point of completion that Jorg was when this thread started. My question is, how mach of the 101 1300, and 1600 detail shown here is applicable to 750 Spiders?
I'm interested in the rear panel insulation dimensions, and material, as well as what goes under the mats.
Thank you to all contributors, this thread is a great record for those putting Giulietta's back together.
