58 Veloce spider project on Ebay!
Hey guys,
Im sure if your an ebayer you have seen the 58 750F on ebay, this would be mine if i didnt have my Triumph. There is some corrosion but its a complete car, which is very nice. What are your thoughts on the car? What do you think it will end at?

I hope more than 27k! I pretty much have the same car except more complete and the body is in better condition. This is Dave Brohan's car, very nice guy. I'm sure it is what he says it is.

OK, I'll enter the pool. I'll say $22,575. But, who knows what it's "worth", or where any ebay auction will end.
I would say that from the pictures and description, it looks like a decent starting point for a restoration. It is fairly complete, fairly unrusted, and it's a veloce, so it's worth putting some bucks into. Of course, without seeing it firsthand, my appraisal ain't worth much, so caveat emptor.

I really think that veloce's are the next speedster. Actually, i cant believe they haven't blown up already. 6 years ago you could buy a nice project speedster for 30k. This past weekend i went to Hershey and there was a rat of a project there for 105K!!!! !!!! I believe there are more speedsters than veloce's and... i have read a few articles where Max Hoffman and Al Allen have both quoted that speedsters are nice but Veloce's are better. Maybe a solid investment? i think Definitely!!!
Is this a diamond in the rough? I think so...
under 20k would be a steal!

I would say Alfajay may be closer to the mark and under 20k would be a steal.

I did a little write up on this one. Was on the BB and craigslist and bringatrailer before the current eBay run.
I like it for a little over $20k.

I'll wade in. I see more pluses to this car than any that have come by in a long time. Forget where it's been on the market. I'm not sure that is relevant as CL and BB and BaT aren't the most widely perused venues in the world marketplace.
The pluses that drive the price- 1. It's a 750. The build quality is better than a 101 Period as proven by the condition of the body and this one looks solid. The sills look original. It's rarer than a 101. It's shorter and arguably looks more lithe than a 101. I'm not short changing 101's, just pointing out why this car will command a higher price than a 101 much as an early 356A draws more value than a B or C.
2. It's complete! Chasing after seats, carbs, intakes, top-bows, is a daunting task and EXPENSIVE and frustrating and usually comes with all the bad news accompanying other cars on the market of this vintage that aren't restored. All the hardware is there and all the little assembly positions are proper and easy to catalog.
3. The dollar is weak and there are probably more chances of finding one in the US than in Europe or South America making it ripe for export where folks don't flinch so much on restoration costs.
4. IT RUNS! and is THE ORIGINAL MOTOR! If 50,000 miles is correct, the motor is just broken in. With any luck, the most disassembly of the motor might be a valve job and a bottom end inspection. This is huge!
5. The seller has the highest integrity.. slightly HUGE!!!!
Anyone who can do his own re-assembly and farm out the paint, chrome, and soft goods should not get killed if he pays anything under $32,000 out of pocket, delivered. I think these cars will easily command something in the range of $60,000-75,000 in the next 5 years. I'm not suggesting a profit, just a safer place to put money than the stock market has demonstrated. Historically, Alfa values have been dragged up or down by how the Porsches, Jags, and AH's go. This particular model should take the lead which the Sprint Veloce has shown recently. Rick

Did anyone see if it sold? It was looking like a 20k reserve.

$22,224, reserve not met. About what I was thinking. Not necessarily what it is worth, but times are hard. I wish I had $25K to make an offer...
Rick, yes, the fact that it runs is huge, as are the very nice seats etc.
