Small Carello Tail Lights on early Spider
I had posted earlier that I wanted to replace the cracked and fogged tail light lenses on my '57 Giulietta Spider. I said that I had found some I thought would work at International. I was mistaken...it was Centerline where I got them. They are listed for a 56-57 Sprint but measured the same as my Spider ones. The difference is that the amber and white lenses are reversed...
The top is the replacement from Centerline...the bottom is one of the originals that were on the car.
They fit as well as the originals and look much better (IMHO), so they will stay. I will need to flip the turn signal and back up wiring.
Dennis...if you still want the originals I took off, PM me and I'll send them to you.

That looks like a Giulietta Berlina light, which is oriented upside down compared Spiders.

Upsides Down
Yes, it looks a little weird with the b/u light on top. Better keep trying!

Andrew is spot-on, those are the correct lenses for the 750 Berlina & Ti, which have the lights "upside down"
The Vendor needs to supply you with the correct units.

Dick,
All this lens business was just an unfortunate misunderstanding on my part, as I´ve never seen this kind of lenses on a Giulietta anywhere before (in maybe 15 years). I thought maybe someone had tried to enhance or alter the look of them by adding reflex lenses from a Sprint to them but these seem to be made in one piece and the round reflexes will probably not even fit on a Sprint.

No problem, Dennis.
I know the lenses are wrong for the car. They fit the light body, but the colors are reversed. The problem is that the small Carello lenses for an early spider don't seem to be available and the old fogged, cracked lenses are not very attractive.
The car wasn't pure stock when it came to me. Updated engine, transmission, brakes. Incorrect upholstery pattern, carpets, mirrors (inside and out), and other details.
I'm not looking to make this one a concours winner, just a fun, good looking driver. I can live with the wrong lenses easier than I can live with the correct but nasty old lenses.
Others may do differently with a similar situation.

Tail Lights
I'd return those to Centreline & order the correct ones from one of the European vendors.
The problem with hiding the indicators under the tail lights is that the idjit drivers looking down from their SUV's cannot see them - in a Spider, you need all the visibility you can get.
This is the correct style lense, on my '60 Spider, my '61 Sprint ahead, just behind the '50 Bristol 401 of my Uncle Rudi.

Valid input, Greig, and like I said in an earlier post, "others may do differently with a similar situation", and that is fine with me .
Safety considerations with these cars can become a "slippery slope". If safety was a main consideration, we'd all be driving Toyotas
These cars are some of the smallest and shortest on the roads (of North America anyway). Being hit by ANYTHING would be like punting a football. Small front and rear signal lights, no side marker lights, no standard bumper height or 5 mph bumpers. No air bags, side impact beams, collapsible steering columns. No shoulder belts (heck, these early ones didn't even come with SEAT belts), no roll over protection structure, limited visibility with the top up, etc, etc.
Having the turn signal in the proper place on the top of the rear lens would be better...I agree, but not a "deal killer" for me.
BTW, BEAUTIFUL cars! Thanks for posting the pic of them.

I agree, it just plain looks wrong. These are also the correct "look" for your car.
