Alfa Stop (Tony Stevens) - Expirience

Hello,

I wanted to ask you whats your experience with Alfa Stop and Mr. Stevens. From my experience, he does not answer on emails, almost impossible to reach him on phone.Last year when I tryed to buy something from him, he didn't wanna accept wire transfer but only credit card payment. In the end he accepted wire transfer, but he was bothered that I refused to pay with credit card. After that i send him another inquiries, made him order from things I wanted to buy and then he told me he does not to want to sale anything, it was to little for him.Latest is from today, he answered phone after 2 weeks calling, I wanted to ask for some parts and he just told me he does not wanna to sale anything. He didnt even care to know what parts I need. I'm confused here, what is going on? From all parts supplier from Europe, only with him I have such bad experience. Now I'm curios, is this happening to me only, or someone had similar problems?

I have posted this on alfaromeo 750-101 yahoo group aswell.
Regards

From personal experience I can say that Tony is a first class supplier. He is very knowledgable and offers good value for money.
I'm satisfied with all parts I sourced through him and had no real trouble contacting him.
He runs a one man shop and therefor is not always available. Other than that I wish we had more people around like Tony supporting our precious cars.

Try the on line quote system and go for the credit card payment is my suggestion.

All the best,
Jerone

On online quote i have waited 1 month, with repeats and several phone calls.
Still cant understood what is problem with wire transfer. My bank pays his bank. That is more secure for both of us rather to give my credit card data.
I'm paying in such way HeinBrand, OKP, Häckner and all others, even on ebay. That is not problem for anyone except for him.

I am having similar experiences with AlfaStop. No answers to online requests for quotes, no answers to direct mails. Like I mentioned in the thread about the seatrails, I gave up. It's a pitty cause he has some hard to get parts.

My experiences, for more than a decade, are the same as the above. I regard Tony as a great resource.

Alfa Veloce you have also raised this matter on the 750/101 group and must have by now seen that there are so many satisfied customers of Alfa Stop, that your experience is not typical. No relationship to AlfaStop.

Other times I do. I have given up on several accounts and purchased elsewhere. Personally I think he needs to step up and make some major changes in his system. Why his prices aren't listed is beyond me. Everyone else does. I like Tony and his products, but I don't have the energy to jump through so many hoops. Either he is running a business or he isn't, and he should be accessible to all Sorry Tony.

Cheers,

George
I have to echo George's sentiments. I had a recent experience where two requests for "Easyquote"s(!) went unanswered- one for two months. I finally got him by phone and there was an apology and then parts were supplied in the normal time. I'm sure he is a decent guy, but still, the one-man-shop and easyquotes are just not working. If he wasn't the sole supplier of some really hard-to-come-by Alfa parts, of course one would expect to go elsewhere.

Phil

First of all I did not want for anyone to have perception that my post was attack on Tony. I am just disappointed in a way how he works (at least with me). He indeed has some hard to find stuff and I appreciate his work to find all this items. I know that he had to invest lot of time and money. But he must understood how man feels during car restoration, when he cant receive any answer for a part that he needs, and in the end he cant buy this part from him. You all know how frustrating and time costing that is. Your car is disassembled bout could be driven with this part. I cant say that I'm happy to see that other people had also some problems with him.

I conclude with this sentence from George:

Thank you all for your coments.
I hope that some of them will see Tony and will not consider them as malicious but more as sugestions.

Anthony Stevens and the Elusive parts !

Even Harry Potter couldn`t make more of a meal of it than you poor unfortunate individuals . It`s becoming increasingly obvious from your posts why Tony is refusing to supply you. Get a life ,for Easters sake !
