Unhappy what is the general availability of giulietta parts?

I've a 57 alfa giulietta - it was destined to become a track racer but became instead an abandoned project. It's in need of seats, bumpers, trim. I'm asking the experts here - swap meet and resto gurus - what are the chance of finding the missing parts, in general?
In lieu of individual parts, anybody have a rotted out basket case that would be a donor?

thanks!

john

seats are nearly impossible to find and parts cars are not showing up anymore. Bumper and trim parts show up on ebay. there is a rear center section listed right now. it could take 6 months, but I think I could round up quite a few parts if I needed too and was in no big hurry. the hunt for parts can be all part of the fun!

Hi John

Sprint or Spider ??

I've got two '57B's and a '58 E Confortevole. 1493*05262 / 05880 amd 06193E

The number of parts available is directly related to the depth of your wallet.

We all barter & trade stuff to restore our cars, interior trim is available from Elvesio / Elviseo ?? in Italy, but it's not cheap, bumpers can be found & rechromed, bits are available, but most stuff would need to be restored.

More Spider stuff than Sprint stuff is being remade

I make reproduction 750E Lightweight Sprint seats, which with the right seat rails will fit in any Sprint. Spider seats are available from Italy.

What's the chassis number & post some pictures, together with a wish list.

Are youy a member of the 750 / 101 Group on Yahoo ???

Ciao
Greig

Some 750's
Some 101's
Some 105's
Some others

wow - fast responses!

Thanks to Andy and Greig (alfitisa) so far.
The car is a spider - I do have some 'barter bait' (i think) - extra motores and a tranny or two.
I've restored other cars (porsche/british) and have dug through parts bins at swap meets and import carlisle up in Pa. Just new to the alfa thing.

Depth of wallet? that's a good one. I know lots of people with deep pockets, but they also have short arms!
Any specific info on local/regional gatherings w/ swap meets? I'm in upstate NY.

thanks again

jon

If you have the time, every part can be found. Some new, some repro, and original parts that need restoration. Good Spider seat frames are one of the hardest to find (unless you buy new).
I went thru several parts cars in order to get all the original parts that I needed for the Spiders that I am restoring.

By the way, early Fiat 850 Spider seats are very similar to the Giulietta ones. May be easier to find-maybe not. i just got done restoring 1967 850 Spider, and noticed how close they were in shape and size to the Alfa seats. if they were upholstered in the Alfa style, they would be very close.

As others have said, you can round up most of the stuff without too much drama if you're not in a huge hurry. Import Carlisle isn't what it used to be since ebay has become the international used parts venue but it still might be worth going to. Do you plan to go this year? I'm about 45 minutes away and usually try to make it. Post some pictures so we know what you're up against. I might have a few parts.

all,
thanks again - i will post some pix soon. Anybody see the Woody Allen movie "Sleeper"? The emperor gets blown up, and all they find left is his nose, but they say "no problem, we'll rebuild him". Giant roller runs over the nose first...

With patience just about every part will eventually show up on ebay or elsewhere- usually after you overpaid for a brand new repro item!

The Honest Truth ...

Jon
While the replies so far have been honest, I have to think the responders are pulling their punches - somewhat.
The fact is that the availability of parts for this vintage ALFA is woefully inadequate. While the number of reproduction items are increasing, their cost and accuracy usually leaves a lot to be desired. There are many items offered for 750/101 cars that are actually for later series but can be fiddled with to make them fit... usually poorly.
The number of accurate reproductions are marketed by a handful of guys (I hesitate to use the term "businesses" since some notable sellers don't operate under normal business practices). These sellers, for the most part, are outside the U.S. and are not too bashful about their pricing.
This leaves one to searching flea-Bay and attempting to out-bid the other Alfisti for tired and neglected parts that seem to lure us with their Siren call.

Having told the truth, I suggest you part out your chassis so as to support those of us who can't seem to kick this addiction.
Beware! Beware! Flee now from this affliction called Alfaholism!

to: Alfista Sapien - hmm

Read your post - i do appreciate the candid talk. I've seen this same problem of a lack of good repro parts with other marques (porsche specifically) and have found that when the prices (for finished cars) rise enough AND there are a sufficient enough number that need restoration people will begin knocking off repro parts, and they do get better.
As far as your offer to parts out my chassis (lol), that was good. That's much like asking one of the survivors of a shipwreck to kindly kill himself so the rest can eat. Asked nicely, though.

tongue in cheek

Fair Warning

Jon
I'm delighted that you perceive the humor ... or is it irony?

Your metaphor of a shipwreck is all too apt. Once aboard this ship of fools, take care that you don't choke upon that tongue whilst in cheek.

Fair warning hast been given; thy fate now depends upon years of toil and effort and dollars poorly spent! We Alfisti refer to it as our hobby.

I have a full set of parts--they are in loose formation, generally known as the "Flexible Flyer".

Otherwise called a Giulietta Spider.

John,

I think that 750 Giulietta parts are generally harder to find than 101 Giulietta parts and also depends upon what type of part. A number of mechanical parts are available from International Auto Parts, Centerline, etc., but many parts have to be purchased either online or from Alfa owners. I had a 1957 Spider Normale and collected many parts for my car. I restored the car many years ago and have many extra Spider parts.
