Giulietta Lube and Auto/motor Plates

Before I return the ones I just bought on E-Bay, does anyone do these correctly with the raised lettering per the originals. This would indeed be a step beyond simple photo PRINTING rather photo etching. The originals are RAISED about a thou above the black field. Rick

I don't think any of the current reproductions have raised lettering.

However, I do have a few of the raised lettering versions available (either NOS or very good older reproductions), if you go to the Centerline web site and visit the "Online Garage Sale" section of our online store you will see them.

Please note, 25% of everything sold in the Online Garage Sale goes to the AlfaBB, so I don't feel too bad about promoting these data plates here...

RE: Giulietta Data Plates

Dear Uncle Rick,
You should know by now that there exists no absolute in the world of ALFA's. IMHO, ALFA is an Italian acronym for "unlimited variations and exceptions".
I have witnessed no less than six variations of data/lube plates on Giulietta's alone ... and I am under no misconception as to "having seen them all".

Pick one that is correct for you and drive your jewel - once this blasted winter weather abates!

My chrome guy has a source for proper photo etching of data plates, etc. He has had bits and pieces made for various brass era cars (ie. Willys Overland) and I have seen the results. They come out very true to the originals, with a black background and crisp raised lettering.

Of course, the initial setup is expensive and economy only comes with quantity. If there is enough interest in a particular data plate I would be willing to inquire about it.

As GTD states, there are so many variations, it is hard to determine what to use as a proper example for reproduction.

I already took this step and will have them in quantity in about two weeks. They should be very inexpensive and accurate. The VIN/motor numbered one will not carry the plinth for the vehicle weight.
