Intake manifold

I'm running a Weber DCD36 on my Giulia spider but noticed the 2 holes in the manifold do not match the size of the carb. Would it be worth the effort to machine the manifold? Any experience out there?
Thanks!

Yes

Sorry to be short. But you really didn`t need to ask did you?

No, not really but sometimes you need a bit of confirmation before you start taking things apart.

All the best,
Jerone

If you're still running the stock normal cams, you probably woun't feel any difference by just opening the manifold up.

I'm running the 105020320001, 1600 late 105 cams with more overlap (67 degrees).
The car runs fine but I guess it would harm either to machine the manifold.

Do you have a flow bench by any chance? No? You should keep mis-information to yourself! And I`m trying so hard to be nice this year

I`ll be happy to let him do the manifold porting here and measure the flow before cutting and after, Just so he can see the difference. No Charge! Or I`ll do it for him, same price

With a small intake regardless of cams, all the intake charge has to flow through these two holes so it is very important. And those differences are "feelable" as "Normales" are sensitive to any intake volumn improvement.
As a matter of fact, the shape of these tertiary "venturis" can be improved on (including the heat shield to improve flow into the manifold and runners.
Cutting it open and the creation of a small plenum and equal length runners inside is the ultimate, but I`ll leave that type stuff to Curtis Wood.
I am not arguing this farther. Period. If he wants to send it to me to port I will. Free. It will take about 30 minutes He can send me a PM
The cams could be improved on tremendously as they have way to much overlap and loosing too much torque out the exhaust. Modern cams can really wake up the little motors by increasing combustion pressures by reducing early overlap and improved ramp duration. They are not "race type performance cams. They are "Torque" type Performance cams. But these cams are not on any of my list or my website. Email me and I`ll send you the profile if interested.
