sprint right hand drive

I recently read a thread by Greig of p.e. who seems to have some knowledge of the Ruddspeed right hand drive conversions cone on Sprints. does he or any one else have any info on this. I am intrigued on how the steering column passed around the carbs and any other major problems they might have had to overcome

I had one for a time and from what I recall the steering box was of a type similar to that on an SS or SZ i.e without a column. From a flange just behind the box there was a short length of steering shaft connected by two Fabri joints to an even shorter shaft connected in an upwards direction to an abbreviated shaft within the column enclosure. I seem to think that there were two bearings in the column top and bottom. In this way there was a shallow "v" in the line of the shaft which allowed it to run under the carburettors.

I have a RHD (101) sprint delivered to and believed to be converted by Lightburns in South Australia.

I am told that this conversion followed that of Ruddspeed.

I will post some pics when I get a chance.

you can buy a RHD conversion kit I believe from the Alfa 105 factory in Melbourne.

thanks guys ,this is helpfull.do you perhaps have a site for the guys in Melbourne. Here in South Africa we did have right hand drive Berlinas, is it logical that these parts would fit a Sprint, are the floor pans the same?. If so then pedal box etc should swap as well.Pics would be MOST helpfull
As an aside I have seen a thread relating to how Alfa engines were used here in South Africa to power !.5 lt formula 1 cars. I have two such cars, one being a type 43 Cooper Alfa and the other being a car known as the Alfa Special, both being of 1500 cc. These engones were not Conrero but used Mondial pistons and often Gianini cams with local mods

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 352839 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint (101.12), manufactured on the 16th October 1962 and sold on the 23rd January 1963 to Lightburn Co. from Camden, South Australia.

The body colour is Alfa red (AR 501).
