trouble with Weber adapter

Hey all,

I was finally successful in getting an order through from Tony at AlfaStop. The jewel of the order was an adaptor for the DGV Weber that I am running on my 750 spider.

I was anxious to use the air filter canister that I restored a few months back. But, when I went to install the adaptor, it wasn't even close to fitting.

Alright. I am missing something important here. I either need some other part or this adaptor is made for some other type of Weber carb that I am not aware of.

Anybody else use this adaptor? How did you make it work?

Cheers!
Jon

That looks like the adapter for the DCD7 Weber.

Jon,

I was sorry to read via the Alfa BB that you are having problems with the Weber adaptor.

This part is listed as fitting the Weber 28/36. I do not believe that the DGV which is a completely modern item comes under this description?

The listing has just been extended to prevent further misunderstanding, the carb is now described as a 28/36 DCD.

Please send me a PM at AlfaStop regarding the return of this item.

Regards,

Tony

Sorry for taking this off-topic, but ...

Yes, I was looking for one. I've had an offer already, but I'm really looking for the non-vented dipped version with the two little lugs on the front. They seem rather scarce, and I'm thinking that they were an item for early 1750 engines or late 1600 GT Veloce.

What do you have?

Jon, before I found the weber 36 DCD with the right top, I modified the stock air box to fit the top of the carb. I used 4 longer studs from the carb to hold the air box on.

I took note of the helpful reply from Tony at AlfaStop. Not all suppliers are as easy to work with when there's an issue with an order. Hurray for AlfaStop's desire to make sure their customer is satisfied.

Yes, I also needed to return an item to him last year and there was no problem at all. He took care of everything, and in a timely manner.

The type of adapter that will work is used on Opel GT's and BMW 2002's. They are found pretty cheaply on Ebay. These 2 cars often had Webers substituted on them from an original Solex and the airfilter openings are the same.

Similar, I looked for the shortest one that I could find that fit the carb and shaved the top of it a little. I have been running a Weber on a 750 intake with the standard air filter, but it is a tight fit.
The 750 intake may be a little lower, allowing for it to fit because alot of people say that it doesn't work, but it works on my car. DB

Yes, even with the DCD on my Giulia Spider, it's a little tall. It just leaves a mark in the hood pad!
