One number ahead of Bob Lee's car. It'd be interesting to see if they were made on the same day.

Hello,

Regarding GTA AR *752647*, I found nothing in my files, nothing in Allegerita or Tabucci and Fusi's GTA serial number listing shows 1965- 752501 to 752550; 1966- 752551 to 752691, but we know Alfa Doc Centre says 752648 was built July 20, 1965 one day before 752507.

So 752647 brings the longest list I have for RHD GTAs to about 30.

FWIW

Can you post images of the GTA serial number ranges from these documents?

So, of the 200(?) built in 65-6, you know of only 30?

I guess no one knows for sure how many were actually built. Alfa is thought by some to have played games with the serial numbers in order to meet Homologation Race requirements of the FIA of 1000 to be built. (some say to be 500?). Same is true of the GTA LHD version.

I have attached a PDF of pages copied from Fusi. For 1966 look a bit further down the list, second page, for reference to the Giulia GTA G.d., (RHD).

Ciao

Ken

Here is what Marco Fazio tells me regarding my car AR752647:

Dear Mister Hunter,

With reference to your request we are informing you as follows. According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 752647 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA RHD (105.34), manufactured on the 27th July 1965 and sold on the 2nd April 1966 to Alfa Romeo Inc., Newark, U.S.A. The body colour is red, with black interiors.

Yours, Sincerely,
Marco Fazio

Autosport, Inc., Cincinnati must have bought it from the Newark location. I have documentation showing the purchase on October 21, 1967 in Cincinnati.

The list of RHD GTAs is about 30 serial numbers long, some GTAs are know lost, some are known today, some are unknown today.

So far as I am aware, every 1600 GTA RHD was made in 1965, I very much doubt the list of chassis numbers is complete, so numbers much lower than it would seem. I imagine this helped Alfa get to homologation minimum build numbers with regard to racing.

How many GTAs in all were built (RHD and LHD) and in what years? I thought someone quoted 50 RHD in '65 and 150 RHD in '66.

Also, have any of the GTA owners on the BB obtained an official build record for their vehicle. Marco at AR says the only way he knows of obtaining such a certified document is through Registro Italiano.

Mr Fusi, the Alfa Historian, who may not always have got it correct, quoted, of the RHD GTAs, 50 in 1965 and 140 in 1966 but the Alfa build record indicates otherwise or confusion or both.

Some of us who have have GTA Corsas, prepped by Auto Delta, the factory racing division at the time, have the Auto delta build record, for chassis and engine.

regards

Ken

Always amazes me that interesting cars like this end up wasting theirs and their owners lives in storage ... why?. Just weird.

Use or sell ... IMO. Nothing improves in storage.
