new member and gta owner

Hello to all , i would like to introduce myself , my name is Giovanni Battista Pirotta Scotti ,(call me giamba ) I have been following your interesting forum for quite some time, but had never registered , I Own a 1966 gta stradale in complete original conditions among 6 other alfas . I would like to be part of the gta "community" among your forum .,
i'll be brief with the intro.....
I'am 39 , born in Rome Italy , I've Lived my life between Italy, canada (alberta and b.c) for several years as well as in usa (Scottsdale az.) and Mexico (baja california) My father being addicted to travel and new places brought us to all these places.
Dad (82 today ) Has always and only had alfas, in italy in the 50s he raced with alfa with several 1900 ti and ti supers as part of the "clienti sportivi" group that alfa had oraganized and i have some pictures from those events, in the early 70s he became good firends with franco angelini in rome and his pilots francisci, giunti, luigi rampa etc..
and had him modify several street giulias for him with full gta running gear , one of which we still own today, a 1968 170 hp 1750 berlina bored to 1.9 l gta head sump c.r gear box etcetc , anyhow back to the intro .... in the 80s in canada we became friends ,clients and part of the ital motors racing team in edmonton alberta , where mr mario del pero "maestro Mario" had a 2000 gtv gt2 class going strong in the prairie region champinoship,my dad decided to partake in the action and had mario prepare a car for him , it was a gt junior body but 1750 running gear, shortly his son Fred del pero became of age and at 16 started to race, on one of our yearly trips to italy mario commisioned my dad to find them a gta for fred , so we went to visit franco and lo and behold there was a gta 1300 junior for sale ex hill climb car , the deal was struck (if i recall around 3 milllion lira ) and it was shipped to canada, meanwhile franco was preparing the engine for my dads car along with a colotti gearbox and all the necessary addendums ....
well i don't want to make things too long , any how my dad raced the 80- 83 seasons with several wins and 2 nd in class in 82, fred on the other hand went on to be canadian champion for 6 years in a row in the gta junior before mentioned. ( that gta actually turned out to be a gta 1600 s.n 613 110 with 1300 engine ). Fred still races the car he is known for his knox hill mountain climbs in kelowna b.c. my dad sold his car back to them and it also still runs as part of a 3 car team.
ok
My gta
it is a 2 owner car, previous owner in Latina province close to rome and then my dad ( now registered in my name )
It is red ,never been raced, the original owner was an angelini client in rome ,the car had always been serviced there and in 73 it came up for sale , it sat at francos garage for some time and he was about to buy it for himself and modify it for racing, my dad happened there and convinced him not to modify it but to sell it to him and so it was..........
it is 100 % original ,upholstery , mechanics , etc has approx 60 000 km , the body was resprayed in 1990 in italy because the original paint had some blemishes and a few small dings from rome parking areas. other than that it is fully original , the car is mentioned in alleggerita , it is registered at the riar in italy. serial n is 613 ...mid sixhundreds At a certain point in time we brought it to canada , then to the states and also stored it in baja for a few years but now it's back in Italy where i like to use it when i go there.
As im mentioned before we also have the 1750 berlina with full gta mechanics gta engine with sump ( no bell housing ) gta flat face differential and autodelta close ratio gear box , car is very fun to drive , very fast and has a definite gta feel as you power through the gears . car is also in italy .
my other alfas are
1900 ti super
1750 berlina 71
giulia super 1300 73
giulia nuova super 1600 77
alfetta 2000 79
well that's all for now , I hope to be an active part of the forum from now on
my best regards to you all .
Giamba

thanks , in the sevenities my dad used to take it to vallelunga race track on week days and lap it a few times , but since then i haven't had it on a track , neverthelss in italy we have a house in north tuscany by the apuan alps and there is 8 km of hairpin tarmack from the towns in the valley below to our house up in the mountain and i enjoy driving it to it's full (open road ) potential on a daily basis . I believe in using my alfas for the pleasure they provide me , some people might disagree but i like to use my gta ....at least for the month i'm there .

Giamba, Welcome to this BB.

I read with interest your account of the del Pero GTA, 613110. While aware of the GTA in its racing hay-day here in Canada I never saw it race, although it was east here on occasion for the championships. Always wondered about its S/N and history. I guess it is the most the successful of the very few (3 that I can think of) Canadian owned and CASC raced GTA's. The other 2 that I know of are 572507 (some club races) and the Hatfield GTA (club races and ??). Thanks for submitting this.

Ciao

Ken

Love your Alfas and the GTA is a time warp piece ... yes use it as intended but I'd not race it myself (laps yes but not races).

What a beauty and you are a very lucky man!

thank you , just to clarify : the 1900 is not a primavera it is a ti super bicolore 1956 made in 456 units , different mechanics and 4 door vs 2 and also a different color scheme (rosa alpe/ rosso matador ) .
i'll be posting more pictures soon , of the del pero gta 613110 and some angelini gta pictures from the 70s . good day to all .

Sorry, my first impression was to see a Primavera like we have one under restoration and is going to have the same colorscheme.
I think this car was bodied by Boano, only 289 made?
