GTA SA engines

Hello all,

I don't know if GTV6SA is right about the number of SA engines produced and there present location, but I remember to have seen one of these engine in 1998 in Italy.

While I was dealing some Ferrari parts with a friend, we went in touch with a now deceased, coachbuilder names Giordanengo. This guy was quite famous in the Ferrari world for building very accurate replicas.

In the shop where many GTOs, TRs and SWBs replicas were under construction, I founded 2 or 3 Type-33 engines (2 litres) and a SA engine. There were no doubt about what it was, as at the time I had my Fusi book in hand.

I don't know what happened with the engine and as Giordanengo didn't want anybody to take picture I can't tell in which condition the engine was neither if it was "gold painted" or whatever.

So, it is a fourth engine, or one of the three mentionned by GTV6SA, anyone can tell?

Ciao

Hello Greg,

According to Luigi Fusi in his book 'Alfa Romeo, Tutte le vetture dal 1910/All cars from 1910' published by Emmeti Grafica Editrice in 1978 (3rd edition) ten (10) GTA-SA cars were produced. They had a chassisnumber within the 105.32 range of the GTA and an enginenumber within the 10502A range of the GTA.
Tabucchi in his book 'Alfa Romeo Guida all'identificazione', published in 2000 by Giorgio Nada Editore doesn't mention a number of cars nor engines built.
In the book 'Alfa Romeo, Le vetture di produzione 1910 - 2007' written by d'Amico and Tabucchi and published by Giunti/Giorgio Nada Editore in 2007, I can't find a reference to the GTA-SA. Any comments or additions to these figures?

Ciao, Olaf
