GTA jr GR 2 replica....progess

Hello all-
Had a nice day in New England today and I managed to find some time to do a few things on the car. The driver side pics display the GTAm replica wheels (13x8)with Dunlop vintage rubber. The passenger side shows the car with Compomotive CXRs in 15x7 with Avon DOT race rubber. Still lots of work to do (like get the engine in the car!) . If all goes as planned I'll have some in-car footage from the fist shakedown at LRP on 7/4-5.

Looks fantastic! Could you show how you did your front brakes to fit the 13" wheels?

Keep the pictures coming.

Hi Andy-
I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I will be happy to share when I get there. There are a few options on the table (as you know). One is the GTV6 calipers, one is the Porsche Aluminum ATE's and the other is a quick and dirty setup tbd. I may end up going with option #3 in the near term just to get the car on the track. Since I missed the SCCA drivers school in early April, this season is looking like a shakedown period with the intent of vintage racing next season.
I'll shoot some other pics in the next few days.

I was really, really hoping to get to Chicago, especially for the big race. Unfortunately, the project has taken it's toll on my finances, time (and sanity). My wife has been exceedingly cool and supportive of the project, but the stars just aren't aligned for me to get there this year. I've used up all my "car credits" for 2008!

Hello john
Very nice ride
I’m trying to do one myself and maybe you can give me some help.
I like very much the detail on the doors (just like the real one) did you buy the aluminum parts?
And the motor it will be a gtam or a strait 2000.
Congratulations on the project and go for it
Best regards

Paulo Ribeiro

Great looking car.

Is that its natural stance or is it missing the engine? The front looks a little high from the photos.

Hi Paulo-
I believe the doors are new old stock Alfa parts. These were the markings on the inside. They are extremely light (they can be picked up with one finger), and the hinges allow for lifting the doors off of the car. I don't know of anyone making the aluminum frames at the moment, but I have heard some talk about remaking them. I can give you more detailed pictures if needed.
The motor will be a 2.0 (single plug)with Weber 45 DCOEs.

Hi John-
I forgot to mention in the other post.....I think the flares are also NOS Alfa. I looked them over carefully prior to having them mounted, but couldn't find any identifying marks as to where they may have come from. They came with the car as part of the project.

Daron- you rock! Thanks for your generosity!

For those of you that didn't follow the original progress on the car.....Daron and the guys at Vintage Customs worked wonders on this car....literally saved it from the crusher!

Hi John. I just got home, found it, and it will be in the mail in the morning. With the smoking motor your building, that exhaust should sound great! BTW, what a great looking neighborhood.

For those of you who don't know John, he is a great Alfesti. John wanted a cover for the parcel tray (under the rear window). Stephen and I talked about doing a design on the panel and this is what we came up with. It's hard to see, but the shield comes from Johns BB avatar. In the middle is his initials.

John we will get this shipped out to you in the morning.
