..........and the price just jumped by over $1000

someone remind me again - why do people bid up the price when you have days yet to go in the auction?

Wrong answer mate; early bidders just dream for a few days.

Has anybody else noticed that when an auction is 'User ID kept private', there are SO many more 'bids' than when you able to deduce more from a normal bidding history

Or maybe it's self-selecting, that people who put up rare high-priced items tend to go for private auctions? Just a thought.

Has anyone considered who is the seller and what has he sold in the past?

Four Grand for a useable GTA head seems about right to me... but the potential for a bad story is VERY high... There is no way I would buy this sight unseen! Loads of potential problems that would make this item useless!

Youzipit

I tried to contact Mr. Youzipit as I wanted to bid on advertised parts. I was blocked from bidding for some unknown reason and all the bidding user ID's were kept private. Youzipit did not have the courtesy to return my emails. Should be a red flag I suppose, very strange.

The sellers information is likely incorrect. This looks like an early 1600 GTA sandcast head - the difference between the heads is the reinforcing ribs which are closer on the 1600 head than the 1300. The sparkplug holes look like they have sharp edges rather than radiused as on the 1300. Also, I've never seen a GTA junior head that has the 105.32 number cast in it.

1300 vs 1600

You are 200% correct. Its just alarming when people post important relevant info like that a few hours before the auction ends. My 2 cents

Well well. I have the original 1300 engine which came from my car with the exact same head, close bars, sharp holes and the 10532 number. I have not bothered to check what it was as it came as a unit. In chalk on the face of the head is written 1300 GTA!!! I have a 1600 GTA unit in the car currently and the head has a different casting number..

Youzipit

Well, I think youzipit acted like the pits not letting people bid on his aluminum T-bar and not returning emails.
I'm signing off this thread
